  • Why we will love you

Join us in shaping the future of Event Intelligence at IKEA!

You’re excited about using AI and data to make complex systems more reliable and easier to operate. You want to work at the intersection of Data Engineering, Observability, and Event Management, and you’re eager to grow in that space.

Our team is at the heart of Operational Intelligence at IKEA, building an Observability solution for operational metrics, centralized logging, and distributed tracing for every team at IKEA across multiple global data centers and public/private clouds (GCP, Azure, Alicloud, and other regions).

We’re now building a Next Generation Event Intelligence solution that uses AI on top of Observability data to identify outages and anomalies and trigger meaningful actions - from automated recovery to Slack, JIRA and ServiceNow notifications.

What you'll be doing day to day

As a mid-level Software Engineer in Event Intelligence, you will help design and implement event analytics and automation capabilities on top of our Observability data platform.

You will work together with senior engineers to build pipelines and services that analyze metrics, logs and traces, detect issues, and integrate with collaboration and ITSM tools to support hundreds of teams across IKEA.

You’ll use AI/ML/LLM tools as a natural part of your daily work - from exploring data patterns to prototyping detection logic - while continuously learning from more experienced colleagues.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO
    • Implement and evolve components of our Event Intelligence solution, under guidance from senior engineers.
    • Work on data pipelines and services that process Observability data (metrics, logs, traces) to detect incidents, anomalies and patterns in system behavior.
    • Help build and maintain automated recovery and notification flows, integrating with Slack, JIRA and ServiceNow for alerts and incidents.
    • Contribute to integrations with our Grafana-based Observability platform and Splunk IT Service Intelligence or similar analytics tools.
    • Use Python or Golang to build production-quality services, analytics jobs, and supporting tooling.
    • Collaborate in an autonomous, self-organizing team, participating in architectural discussions, code reviews and continuous delivery improvements

    WHAT YOU BRING
    • Some experience with Event Management or strong interest and adjacent experience, and motivation to grow into an Event Intelligence specialist.
    • A Data Engineering / Data Science mindset: you’re comfortable working with data, understanding pipelines, and using AI tools to explore and learn.
    • Around 2-4 years of professional experience in systems or software engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
    • You are inquisitive, innovative, and passionate about learning and sharing knowledge within the team.
    • Coding skills in Python or Golang, able to contribute to production services and automation.
    • Exposure to or interest in AI/ML/LLM, Data Science, and Data Engineering - you don’t need to be an expert in all, but you’re eager to grow into them.
    • Experience with or curiosity about Observability stacks, such as Grafana and OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or similar.
    • Exposure to event analytics platforms (e.g., Splunk Enterprise, Splunk ITSI, or similar) is a plus.
    • Some experience integrating with ITSM / service management tools (ServiceNow, JIRA or similar), or strong interest in learning this area.
    • A DevOps & Cloud mindset: experience with or interest in Kubernetes and hybrid cloud infrastructure (GCP, Alicloud), plus operational thinking and SRE practices.

    About this work area

    • A vibrant, entrepreneurial and innovative environment with a small team of dedicated engineers solving real operational problems with AI and Observability.
    • Strong development opportunities, including learning from senior engineers and contributing to IKEA’s digital transformation.
    • A culture that values healthy, flexible life balance and supports you to be yourself and grow - both personally and professionally.
