What you'll be doing day to day
We are offering two internships in this area:
1) Experience Design internship in the Global Store Experience team
Would you like to design experiences that will reach millions of people across IKEA stores? During your time as an Experience Design Intern, you will be able to unleash your full potential by being a part of a great team and the whole design process, from Research & Discovery to the final launch. You will be looking into how IKEA customers queue and wait in different areas of an IKEA store. If you are a person that is deeply passionate about learning about people and their behaviours, then this is an opportunity for you. During your assignment you will work with other UX Designers, Product Owners, Software Engineers and Data Analysts. Prepare to develop your user research, interaction design, visual design and usability testing skills!
2) Experience Design internship for Co-worker Tools
Would you like to design experiences that will impact IKEA co-workers and customers globally?
As an Experience Design intern in the DT&FCS team, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a variety of design challenges across different product areas, from store operations to logistics and sales. Your work will involve everything from researching user needs and mapping out experiences to prototyping solutions and collaborating with designers, developers, and product owners. Depending on the project, you might be conducting usability testing, refining UI components, or contributing to service design discussions.
This internship will give you hands-on experience with the full design process in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, allowing you to develop your skills while making a real impact on the experiences of IKEA co-workers and customers worldwide.

We only accept students who live within commuting distance to the office in Malmö during the time of the internship, and who are connected to a university within the country. To participate in this internship, you must be enrolled in a relevant university program or educational course. Full-time is favoured, but a minimum of 50% per week is acceptable. No exceptions will be made.
This is an unpaid internship intended to complement academic studies. However, we offer a valuable learning experience, close mentorship, and the opportunity to grow within a supportive and dynamic team.
Duration: Fall 2025. Start date: September 1st 2025.
