  • Why we will love you

Join us in shaping the future of Event Intelligence at IKEA. Our team is at the heart of Operational Intelligence, supporting every engineering team at IKEA with an Observability solution for operational metrics, centralized logging, and distributed tracing across multiple global data centers and public/private clouds (GCP, Azure, Alicloud, and several smaller regions).

We are now building the Next Generation Event Intelligence solution - leveraging AI on top of large volumes of Observability data to proactively detect outages and anomalies, trigger recovery automations, and integrate seamlessly with collaboration and ITSM tools such as Slack, JIRA and ServiceNow.

If you’re excited by the intersection of Data Science, Data Engineering, AI/ML/LLMs and modern Observability, this role is for you.

What you'll be doing day to day

As a Senior Software Engineer in Event Intelligence, you will be at the forefront of designing and implementing our AI-powered Event Intelligence platform, focusing on analytics over large volumes of Observability data from IKEA IT platforms and products.

You will help shape a solution that automatically identifies outages and anomalies and drives actions such as automated recovery workflows and notifications via Slack, JIRA, and ServiceNow incidents - supporting 500+ teams and continuously growing.

You will act as a key technical leader, driving research and development for the next-generation platform, while collaborating closely with the Observability platform team, Operational Intelligence, and product teams across IKEA.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO
    • Lead the design and implementation of our AI-powered Event Intelligence solution, from architecture to production rollout.
    • Drive research and experimentation with AI/ML/LLM techniques on Observability data, using these tools as a natural everyday companion in your work.
    • Build robust, automated event pipelines that correlate metrics, logs and traces to detect incidents, anomalies and patterns in complex systems.
    • Develop solutions for automated recovery and notification flows, integrating with Slack, JIRA and ServiceNow for incident creation and collaboration.
    • Contribute to and integrate with our open source Observability platform based on the Grafana stack (Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir, OpenTelemetry) and our Splunk IT Service Intelligence platform or similar event analytics solutions.
    • Collaborate within an autonomous, self-organizing team, influencing both architecture and continuous delivery of Event Intelligence capabilities.

    WHAT YOU BRING
    • Strong experience with Event Management - this is a must.
    • 5+ years of professional experience in systems or software engineering.
    • You are inquisitive, innovative, and passionate about learning and sharing knowledge with others.
    • A Data Science and Data Engineering mindset, with proficiency in AI tools and methods.
    • Strong coding skills in Python or Golang, comfortable building production services and data/analytics tooling.
    • Solid expertise in AI/ML/LLM, Data Science and Data Engineering applied to real-world problems.
    • Experience with Observability stacks, ideally including Grafana and OpenTelemetry (or similar tools).
    • Experience with event analytics platforms such as Splunk Enterprise and Splunk ITSI, or similar solutions.
    • Experience integrating with ITSM and service management tools - we integrate with ServiceNow and JIRA, and expect experience in this area.
    • A DevOps & Cloud / SRE mindset, with operational experience on Kubernetes and hybrid infrastructure (GCP, Alicloud).

    About this work area

    • A vibrant, entrepreneurial and innovative environment with a small team of dedicated engineers working on cutting-edge Event Intelligence and Observability solutions.
    • Great development opportunities and a chance to make a significant impact on IKEA’s digital transformation and operational resilience.
    • A culture that cares about healthy, flexible life balance, where you can be yourself and grow - personally and professionally.
