  • Who you are

Are you ready to shape the future of IKEA’s property portfolio?

We’re looking for a strategic and experienced real estate development professional to lead the acquisition, planning, and optimization of our real estate locations in Austria and Switzerland.

You’ll play a key role in securing new sites, managing permits and approvals, and protecting and maintaining the long-term value, permits and legal rights of our existing assets — ensuring our spaces are ready to meet the needs of the many.

WHY YOU WILL LOVE THIS ROLE:

You’ll work at the intersection of business growth and urban development, collaborating with local authorities, communities, and internal stakeholders to deliver smart, sustainable property solutions. You’ll lead with purpose, drive innovation, and help IKEA create places that inspire.

    WHO YOU ARE:
To be successful in this role, we believe you have:

    • 6+ years of experience in real estate development or asset management
    • Strong background in law, urban planning, engineering, architecture, or real estate business administration
    • Proven experience working with public authorities and navigating permitting processes
    • Strategic mindset with hands-on delivery experience

    Your responsibilities

    • Lead the acquisition, leasing, development, active management and divestment of our portfolio and individual properties across Austria and Switzerland
    • Build strong relationships with local authorities and external partners to secure planning and permitting approvals
    • Manage real estate risks, taxes, and obligations to protect IKEA’s interests
    • Oversee infrastructure and utility agreements, neighborhood agreements and other business relationships ensuring compliance and cost-efficiency
    • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth handover and operational readiness
    • Represent IKEA in property-related matters with landlords, tenants, and shared property associations
    • Champion IKEA values and fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

Without us our many co-workers and customers wouldn’t have an IKEA to go to. We make sure to secure, build and maintain our physical locations - from stores to offices to factories – to meet the needs of the many people. Together we lead the way in delivering safe, compliant, sustainable, and innovative solutions for every property. And we feel a great sense of pride in seeing everything working smoothly!
