  • What you need to know

Lead the technical evolution of IKEA’s Microsoft Dynamics 365 global platform as it becomes a critical foundation for customer and commercial channels capabilities and help establish the engineering foundations.

As Platform Engineering Manager, you will lead the engineering work required to build, extend, integrate, modernise and govern IKEA’s Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform. You will translate platform strategy, architecture and product needs into executable engineering plans and ensure that delivery teams apply consistent, secure and sustainable practices.

You will balance the implementation of the platform roadmap with the ongoing needs of product teams, while reducing unnecessary customisation, technical debt and dependency on specialist platform teams. You will provide technical direction across the Dynamics 365 ecosystem and create the conditions for internal capability to grow alongside external expertise.

Fluent English, both written and spoken, is essential, as English is the working language of the global platform team. Please submit with your application in English.

    Your responsibilities

    • Support the Platform Owner and relevant leaders in developing and executing the Dynamics 365 platform roadmap, with particular focus on engineering delivery, quality, platform evolution and sustainable adoption.
    • Lead and prioritise the engineering backlog, balancing new platform capabilities, Case Management needs, integration demand, reliability improvements, technical debt reduction and platform modernisation.
    • Provide technical 360-degree direction for the Dynamics 365 platform, working with Platform Architecture, security, data, integration, infrastructure and product teams to ensure coherent end-to-end solutions.
    • Establish and maintain engineering standards and guardrails for Dynamics 365 configuration, extension, integration, automation (CI/CD, test automation), environments, deployment, testing, release practices, observability and documentation.
    • Guide teams towards fit-for-purpose use of Dynamics 365 and related Microsoft technologies, avoiding unnecessary customisation and ensuring that platform capabilities are used consistently and responsibly.
    • Lead the implementation of secure, scalable and maintainable solutions for Case Management and future capabilities such as contact center services and B2B lead management.
    • Work with Product Owners and business stakeholders to understand, qualify and shape requirements, turning them into clear technical options, dependencies, estimates and delivery plans.
    • Drive consistency in engineering practices, tooling, architecture patterns and ways of working across internal teams, external partners and the Centre of Expertise.
    • Lead the work of reducing technical debt and platform complexity, including rationalisation of customisations, decomposition or replacement of unsuitable solutions, and improvement of reusable platform services.
    • Ensure that platform changes are engineered with appropriate security, privacy, resilience, performance, accessibility, supportability and cost considerations.
    • Lead, coach and develop engineers and technical specialists, promoting knowledge sharing, modern engineering practices and the progressive transfer of capability from external partners to IKEA.
    • Provide technical leadership to internal and third-party delivery teams and steer solutions towards the agreed Dynamics 365 target architecture and standards.
    • Partner with the Senior Platform Operations Owner to ensure operational requirements, service readiness and run-related changes are included in engineering plans and releases.
    • Contribute to governance forums and decision-making on platform design, standards, exceptions, investment, risk and delivery progress.
    • Establish platform-level quality and non-functional requirements (NFRs), including security, privacy, availability, resilience, recoverability, performance, scalability, accessibility, interoperability, maintainability, supportability and cost efficiency, ensuring these are measurable and incorporated into solution design, acceptance criteria and release decisions.
    • Establish and continuously improve quality engineering practices across the platform, including automated testing, regression testing, integration and end-to-end testing, performance and security testing, quality gates and production validation, enabling changes to be released safely and predictably.
    • Define and monitor platform health and engineering quality measures, using reliability, performance, quality, delivery, technical debt, security and operational indicators to identify improvements and inform engineering priorities and investment decisions.

What you bring: knowledge, experience, capabilities and behaviours
    • Formal training in information technology, computer science or equivalent experience.
    • Significant experience as a software engineer, solution/platform architect, technical lead or engineering manager.
    • Strong experience designing and delivering Microsoft Dynamics 365 and/or Power Platform solutions in complex enterprise environments.
    • Practical understanding of Dynamics 365 extensibility, integrations, APIs, data, security roles, environments, ALM and release management.
    • Experience leading platform modernisation, re-engineering, technical-debt reduction or rationalisation of legacy/custom solutions.
    • Understanding of cost drivers in platform delivery and operations, including the commercial consequences of technical decisions
    • Ability to take ownership, make timely decisions and maintain momentum in ambiguity.
    • Delivery-focused, analytical and persistent in resolving complex technical issues.
