  • A day in your life with us
Essence of the role: In this role, you will be supporting the Product Recovery team in rethinking how damaged products are handled after customer returns or internal handling. You will analyze current processes, explore new recovery options, and help design a data-driven decision tree that improves customer satisfaction, profitability, and sustainability.

    What you will do:
The Product Recovery department manages products damaged through customer returns, second hand or internal handling. Our focus is on effective recovery to minimize negative customer impact, maximize profit, and uphold environmental responsibility. Existing methods include repackaging, "As-Is" sales (reduced price for damaged packaging or pre-assembled items in the store and online), and sustainable disposal (for parts or recycling). Revenue. We want to rethink these processes. Your objective would be to assess current product recovery processes and propose an optimized, decision-tree-driven framework for damaged products, boosting business value, customer satisfaction, and sustainability.

    Scope of Assignment:
    1. Process Mapping: Document existing recovery workflows, identifying all decision points, resources, and timings.
    2. Cost-Benefit Analysis: Quantify costs (labor, space, admin) and estimate profit margins for each recovery option - repackaging, As-Is sales, spare parts, etc.
    3. Customer Impact Study: Conduct interviews and surveys to assess whether As-Is products attract new customers, gauge their perceived value, and identify any cannibalization of full-price sales.
    4. Decision Tree Design: Propose redesigned processes and a comprehensive decision tree informed by the research above. The tree should factor in product type and value, extent of damage, labour costs, profit potential, available space, environmental impact, and customer demand.

    Your deliverables would include:
    Current process overview
    Research findings
    Cost & profit analysis
    Proposed customer research methodology
    Optimized process recommendations
    Visual decision tree
