We are looking for a Country Xplore Design & Innovation Leader to join Xplore Studio in Seoul. You will turn emerging opportunities into focused propositions, prototypes and experiments that generate evidence and support better decisions.

    About Xplore Studios
    Established in 2024 as part of Ingka Group Strategy & Development, Xplore Studios help IKEA move faster by exploring new opportunities, testing ideas and developing solutions together with customers, co-workers, partners and local markets. Seoul serves as a living testbed for this work. Its dense urban environment, evolving customer behaviours, strong digital adoption, compact living conditions and vibrant creative ecosystem offer unique opportunities to identify relevant opportunities and test solutions that could create value in Korea and beyond.

    About the role
    As Country Xplore Design & Innovation Leader, you will lead the design and innovation capability within the Xplore Studio. You will turn future opportunities and exploration cases into concepts, prototypes and experiments that can be tested, learned from and, where relevant, scaled.

    You are:
    • Have experience in innovation, strategic design, entrepreneurship, new business development, service design or a related field.
    • Can connect customer needs, market shifts and business value to identify meaningful opportunities.
    • Have hands-on experience developing prototypes, proof of concepts or minimum viable solutions.
    • Can design and run experiments that generate useful evidence, and change direction when findings challenge initial assumptions.
    • Facilitate diverse teams and collaborate with internal experts, customers and external partners.
    • Communicate complex work clearly, documenting the logic, evidence and recommended next steps.

    Your responsibilities

    • Identify future opportunities: Together with the Xplore Studio Leader and relevant partners, identify and capture future opportunities based on market, customer and Ingka research and insights.
    • Lead exploration from opportunity to concept: Frame the opportunity, facilitate ideation, define value propositions and evaluate their desirability and viability.
    • Connect experts and stakeholders: Bring together the right experts and stakeholders to develop new concepts and business opportunities, creating the conditions for effective collaboration across disciplines.
    • Develop prototypes and proof of concepts: Lead the design and development of prototypes and proof of concepts, making ideas tangible so they can be tested, challenged and improved.
    • Build innovation partnerships: Build strong relationships with internal and external innovation partners, bringing in the capabilities, expertise and networks needed to accelerate exploration, development and testing.
    • Strengthen ways of working: Continuously strengthen the Xplore Studio’s design and innovation ways of working, methods and capabilities.

    Our team within IKEA

    As part of Xplore, you will work with local and global stakeholders across the IKEA ecosystem. You will contribute to exploration, innovation and new ways of working by helping IKEA test opportunities, learn from evidence and make better decisions faster. You will also connect Seoul-based insights and experiments with relevant IKEA teams and markets.

    In the Xplore Studio, you will work closely with the Country Xplore Studio Leader and Creative Leader, alongside colleagues, experts, customers and external partners. You will report to the Country Xplore Studio Leader.
