    About the job

    Reporting to the Kitchen Production Manager, this Associate role is responsible for attracting visitors to the stores by encouraging IKEA store visitors to stay longer and enjoy more. He/She strives towards making people smile and build trust for the IKEA store among customers, co-workers, and suppliers. He/She also provides irresistible food offers in a welcoming atmosphere that gives our customers a good reason to return.

    Your assignment

    • You ensure that our customers are always in focus and strive to make them smile by supporting them with an attitude based on the IKEA values;
    • You are a good ambassador for the IKEA store in all contact with our customers and gives them a good reason to return again and again;
    • You are passionate about our products and actively learn about their content, origins, and other benefits and you are willing to share this knowledge with your customers and colleagues;
    • You ensure that you work to optimize sales by knowing the top-selling products, support the range changes, prepare the readiness of your area, contributes to the department’s action plan as well with in-store activities, and you have an active interest in our local competition and provide relevant input to your manager regarding range and pricing;
    • You comply with and follow internal rules, policies, and daily operational routines set by the management;
    • You execute IKEA store operations and do your part to make sure that our operations are in line with the Functional Commercial Review standards.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Food Preparation & Production

    • You assist the Chef de Partie in preparing and cooking daily meals according to approved recipes, production plans, and portion standards.

    • You prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, marinating, portioning, and assembling food items.

    • You perform basic cooking techniques such as grilling, frying, roasting, steaming, sautéing, and baking under supervision.

    • You make sure all ingredients are prepared accurately and available before service (mise en place).

    • You assist in presenting food while maintaining quality, consistency, and IKEA food standards.

    • You monitor food quality throughout preparation and service.

    • You replenish food items during meal service as needed.

    2. Food Safety & HACCP

    • You follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures at all times.

    • You maintain good personal hygiene and practice safe food handling.

    • You prevent cross-contamination by following proper food preparation, storage, and handling procedures.

    • You assist in monitoring food temperatures during receiving, preparation, cooking, holding, cooling, and reheating.

    • You properly label, date, and rotate food products using FIFO/FEFO principles.

    • You immediately report food safety concerns, damaged products, or equipment issues to the Chef de Partie or Manager.

    3. Kitchen Operations

    • You keep your workstation clean, organized, and sanitary throughout your shift.

    • You wash, sanitize, and properly store kitchen utensils, equipment, and food containers.

    • You assist in receiving deliveries and storing products according to food safety and storage standards.

    • You support inventory counts and replenish ingredients as directed.

    • You help minimize food waste through proper handling, portioning, and storage.

    • You operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly, following established procedures.

    4. Co-worker Restaurant Support

    • You help make sure meals are prepared and ready according to the established meal schedule.

    • You maintain serving stations by replenishing food and keeping the presentation fresh and inviting.

    • You respond positively to instructions and changing operational needs.

    • You contribute to creating a pleasant dining experience for co-workers through efficient food preparation, good service, and teamwork.

    5. Documentation & Administration

    • You complete basic food safety, cleaning, and operational records accurately and on time.

    • You assist with production records, inventory documentation, and other operational checklists as required.

    • You use basic computer skills and are willing to work with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and other company systems when needed.

    6. Teamwork & Continuous Learning

    • You work closely and cooperatively with the Chef de Partie and other kitchen team members.

    • You follow instructions promptly and contribute with a positive, open, and helpful attitude.

    • You participate in kitchen meetings, food safety training, and relevant IKEA development programs.

    • You are curious and willing to learn new recipes, cooking techniques, and ways of working.

    • You contribute to a culture where people support one another, treat each other with respect, and continuously look for better ways of working.


    Qualification
    • You are sales-driven and passionate about food and people;
    • You have experience in food management and industry and willing to learn new skills;
    • You enjoy working in a vibrant fast-paced retail environment;
    • You are service-minded and always keep the customer in focus;
    • You are flexible and open to change;
    • You are confident in approaching and talking to people in a friendly manner;
    • You take personal initiative and have good attention to details;
    • You have good communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence and collaborate with others;
    • You are computer literate, specifically in MS Office system.
    • You have basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking methods.
    • You have a basic understanding of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP concepts.
    • You can follow standardized recipes and work instructions.
    • You have good knife-handling and food preparation skills.
    • You are willing to learn different cuisines and cooking techniques.
    • You have basic knowledge of inventory handling and stock rotation.
    • You have good communication and teamwork skills.
    • You can work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

    This role requires flexibility in work hours, work schedule is depending on store operational requirements. Working on public holidays and weekends.
