The Legal & Governance function of core business IKEA Supply provides legal advice within a wide spectrum of areas.
Job description
We are looking to strengthen our legal support to core business Supply, with focus on wholesale related activities for Inter IKEA Group, by recruiting a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team.
As Legal Counsel, you will be a trusted adviser to our wholesale business, providing pragmatic, business-oriented legal support across our international purchasing, distribution and sales activities. You will work in a truly global environment, partnering with colleagues across Supply and Inter IKEA Group within legal, purchasing, logistics, finance and tax. In this role you will:
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements supporting wholesale operations, including supply, purchasing, distribution, transport, logistics and warehousing arrangements.
- Advise the business on cross-border sale of goods, international trade terms, title transfer and delivery risk.
- Support purchasing and sourcing teams on transport and distribution service contracts globally.
- Provide legal guidance on intra-group agreements and the flow of goods between supply service entities and franchisees.
- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters relevant to wholesale and supply activities, including customs, trade compliance, sanctions and product-related requirements.
- Manage and mitigate legal risk in commercial disputes and support the resolution of claims relating to supply, quality and delivery.
- Instruct and coordinate external counsel across multiple jurisdictions, managing scope, quality and cost.
- Contribute to the development of legal templates, playbooks and ways of working that enable the business to move quickly and safely.
Qualification

- Law degree with several years' post-qualification experience gained in-house and/or in a reputable law firm, with a clear focus on commercial, supply chain or wholesale-related work.
- Several years of IKEA experience in contracting and organisational structure.
- Solid knowledge of international sale of goods, maritime- and road transport, commercial contracting and cross-border trade.
- Experience with distribution (supply) agreements in franchise set ups.
- Experience from logistics and food.
- Experience advising a global business and comfort operating across multiple legal systems and cultures.
- The ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice for a commercial audience.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, sound judgement and a genuine sense of ownership.
- A collaborative, down-to-earth working style that fits our values-driven culture.
- Successful in building trustful relations in multicultural environments and high level of integrity.
- Driven team player who can work independently as well.
- Leadership experience.
- Pragmatic, solution-oriented, hands-on and cost-conscious.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
