To be successful as a Technology Architect you have proven advanced education in information technology, computer science or equivalent. We believe you have a minimum of 7 years of experience from product and engineering organizations where you have had proven a Domain Architecture responsibility stretching across multiple products and coexisting with legacy in the Technology Landscape.

You have at least 5 years of experience in developing service, solution architectures that are cloud-native, event-driven and applies an API first approach. You have worked with Open Source and automation in delivering software. In addition, we also aim that you have you have understanding in Enterprise Architecture and how to keep a technology architecture together across a Product Area in the Technology landscape within in the retail business and how to modernize its existing legacy.

We see that you have a strategic and holistic mindset being able to define the future state of assigned domain as well as:
• You will be able to synthesize and incorporate key cross functional perspectives – co-worker experience,
operational efficiency, regulatory, security and privacy considerations while designing solutions.
• Influence decisions at several levels of the company – from Sub-domain to engineering by providing clarity
on what tools, patterns, and directions to accelerate delivery.
• Drive architecture work in a technology landscape that has multi-generational legacy products - Reduce
waste through rationalization and standards.
• Solve deep technical problems in a landscape transforming with several business models
• Drive common purpose across diverse stakeholders
• Set long term strategic direction and manage its trade-offs
• Deep knowledge of Enterprise Architecture, for Services Platforms & cloud platform development
• Work outcome-led, across application and infrastructure architecture
• Experience in agile development practices
• Experience having worked with domain architecture in a product and engineering organization
• Strong communicator being able to have very technical conversations and business conversations
• Deep knowledge supporting topics like omnichannel, e-commerce and retailing


As a person you are a good collaborator, have strong leadership skills leading architecture work and work with diverse stakeholders. You pay attention to detail and actively acquire new knowledge, skills and champions new methods to improve performance in deliveries. You possess knowledge across a range of different technology stacks, ideally applied within a retail sector, and can change direction based on new ideas, approaches and strategies.

Your responsibilities

As a Senior Technology Architect, you will develop the technology architecture landscape across IKEA and be part of setting the course with sound engineering/architecture through principles and standards that enable guidance for teams. By influencing decisions across multiple levels, you make sure to set and drive the future architecture across both legacy and digital products (at scale). Your personality allows you to balance common purpose amongst a diverse set of stakeholders to ensure reaching both short- and long term goals.
In this role you are:

• Responsible for defining the application and infrastructure architecture, legacy coexistence and where
capabilities should be implemented to ensure end-to-end flows and avoid costs in duplicate
implementations
• Responsible for partnering to define the enterprise data objects in a standard canonical data format and
the Data Model for Ingka in order to achieve clear definitions and ownership of data with the
correspondent Data Architect
• Responsible for defining the information flow between products and legacy within and across sub-
domains and domains in order to ensure end-to-end value streams that are optimized for the total
technology landscape
• Drive and develop the architecture perspective on sub-domain roadmap and prioritizations, providing
transparency of its consequences and impact, to reach sub-domain outcomes, and optimize the whole
technology landscape and the IKEA value chain
• Drive, lead, and resolve the big and hard problems that are common across teams in the IKEA value chain
to enable speed and flexibility
• Drive sub-domain agenda and identify cross-domain dependencies in the roadmap and prioritizations, as
part of the sub-domain leadership team, to invest and deliver on an optimal digital agenda
• Drive and develop the Enterprise Architecture practices and apply the architecture guardrails through the
product and engineering teams, to enable speed and flexibility
• Lead the sub-domain architecture in a domain and the overall Enterprise Architecture to keep together
the IKEA value chain
• Lead and drive the architecture and technical assessment from a technology landscape perspective in
acquisition activities, to ensure that investments fit into the total technology landscape
• Continuously keep updated in innovations and how they can be applied in the sub-domain and its
strategic outlook to promote new opportunities and competitive advantages in digital development

YOUR SKILLS
• Extensive experience with system architecture, including designing and implementing complex software
solutions.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native architecture.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, robust technical solutions.
• Strong understanding of architectural patterns and best practices.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex systems and understand interdependencies.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
• Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
• Understanding of business processes and the ability to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies that drive business value.
