  • Who you are

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Financial Controller who wants to work in a global and growth-oriented company with the opportunity to make their mark, and who can help influence, strengthen and develop the controlling area at IKEA DK.

You will work independently and in a structured manner with your tasks, embracing new challenges with confidence. Effective communication with all levels of the organisation is essential, and the ability to “connect the dots”, as you will provide service-oriented support and act as a trust-building link between Finance & Accounting and the rest of the organisation.

    We expect from you:

Background: You have a relevant financial background, such as HD Accountancy, cand.merc.aud, or similar, and at least 5 years’ experience as a financial controller from a large company, preferably with experience in an international company.

Attention to detail: You have experience interpreting accounting rules and legislation, implementing necessary changes to achieve compliance, and proactively ensuring accurate filings and reporting.

Collaboration: You build strong cross‑functional relationships and act as a sparring partner to both the finance organisation and the wider business, providing constructive challenge and financial insight to support better decision-making.

Clear communicator: You can communicate financial and accounting key figures and issues in a clear and easy-to-understand manner to non-financial stakeholders.

Critical thinking: You are adept at optimizing and streamlining financial processes, ensuring steps are detailed in standard operating procedures, and can think about “what could go wrong” to secure the efficiencies.

Data Skills: You are strong in data analysis, proficient in Excel, and can quickly understand and navigate accounting and ERP software (SAP knowledge is a plus).

Problem-solving: Possesses a good overview with an eye for detail, has a high drive, and proactively seeks solutions. Works systematically, is quick to acquire new knowledge, and is good at prioritizing.

    Your responsibilities

Month-end closing processes: Ensure timely and accurate posting of journal entries and reconciliations, and accurate reporting of financial information to the business. Together with the financial controlling team, coordinate business performance follow-up, including full P&L responsibility for controlling all utility costs.

IKEA food: Support and educate the IKEA Food organisation in designing and maintaining financial structures to monitor cost and performance. Act as a sparring partner to Business Navigation and the Food Manager to enable informed decision-making, stable reporting, and clear business performance insights aligned with global frameworks.

O2C (Order-to-cash): Work closely with local Accounting & Reporting Operations, outsourced O2C shared services, and internal stakeholders responsible for payment acquirers and tender types to ensure complete and accurate accounting of sales and settlement transactions. Secure timely and compliant Financial and Management reporting in accordance with global frameworks, local legal requirements, and internal control standards.

Tax Control Framework: Support and drive end-to-end tax processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to local tax authorities. Strengthen governance by maintaining clear procedures, robust controls, and effective use of tax technology.

Financial reporting: Participate in the preparation of annual accounts, including the preparation and quality assurance of audit material and necessary documentation.

Participation in many varied projects and ad hoc tasks.

    Together as a team

You will join an energetic and collaborative Finance & Accounting team of 11 colleagues, including two other Financial Controllers, one Accounting & Reporting Manager, five Accounting & Reporting Specialists, and two Accounting Coworkers.

We see ourselves as influencers – we steer the IKEA business by finding the truth behind the figures. Together, we secure compliance with local and international laws and reporting standards; we assure that accounting processes are efficient and that tax compliance meets business needs. We’re a diverse group of people driven by providing reliable financial data to a wide variety of stakeholders. At the end of the day, that’s one of the foundations to make IKEA even better!
