Job description
The Risk Management & Compliance function steers and supports the business to safeguard the IKEA brand by identifying, anticipating on, navigating through opportunities and risks on the base of IKEA values and culture. Together with effective monitoring and follow-up, this leads to risk aware decision taking and practical business control.
Risk Management & Compliance works closely together with the various organizational levels and provides support to:
1) strengthen the IKEA brand and protect our assets
2) maintain an overall risk aware culture
3) steer and lead compliance activities
This position is located in North America, King of Prussia, PA with regional responsibility for Americas. Regular business travel in the region is to be expected, with occasional international trips. Availability for critical incidents 24hrs.
As a Regional Risk and Compliance Leader you will:
- Support in defining, implementing, and maintaining Steering Documents and tools to be applied across the “Three lines" to integrate governance, risk & compliance, safety & security for the business to manage risks across the Region, which includes USA, Central America, South America and Canada.
- Maintain an understanding of the different businesses in the region and how they work as well as the risks, controls, industry standards, and best practices to effectively maintain a risk management framework that is appropriate, implementable, scalable, and relevant.
- With business, address and align regulatory and legal/compliance requirements in regard to risk management governance, policies, standards, methods, and reporting.
- Ensures a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities across the “Three Lines” as they pertain to the Risk & Compliance framework including policies, methods, standards, process, reporting, tools and overall governance in your region.
- Increase the business added value of Risk Management and Compliance activities and ensure it is a contributor and an enabler in achieving continuous improvement.
- Ensure that Emergency Response, Crisis Management plans, Business Continuity Plans and trainings are in place in accordance with Inter IKEA Group standards.
- Provide assurance on the level of compliance with Inter IKEA Steering Documents and regulatory requirements for high/critical risks to Supply Management and key stakeholders.
- Provide operational support during critical issues, crisis and investigations.
- Ensure the insurance setup for respective countries is coordinated with the IKANO Group and R&C Operations Mgr for Supply.
- Lead competence development and succession planning across area of responsibility.
- Work with Core Business specialists and relevant franchisee in Safety and Security, Supply Chain Security, Ethics and Integrity Compliance, Risk Management, Information Security & Data privacy, Internal Audit and Reporting and Systems.
Qualification
To be successful in this role you must have the following attributes:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience leading Risk and Compliance agenda.
- Understanding of the IKEA core businesses processes and IKEA culture and values
- Demonstrate senior leadership & management skills- Understanding of IKEA governance structure and steering documents
- Understanding of risk management and compliance frameworks including Safety & Security, Information Security & Data Privacy and Ethics & Integrity
- Preferably, strong business capabilities in customer fulfillment
- Experience with R&C technology solutions, e.g. Risk assessment automation tools
- Business professional facilitation and communication skills and able to present, transfer knowledge and motivate with impact
- Investigation skills/experience and report writing
- Be able to perform risk assessments/threat assessments and identify emerging risk
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Bilingual (English/ Portuguese/Spanish) preferred but not required.
- Passion to work with and through people and ability to inspire others by using strong coaching, influencing, communication, writing and listening skills
- Ability to create, implement, execute and follow up on plans to deliver outstanding results
- High integrity and level of independence, leadership by example
