  • We are looking for a senior, hands-on System Engineer to own and develop our Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) built on Planon. You will be the Functional/ technical go-to person for the platform and drive how our real estate portfolio, facilities, building systems (BMS), and IoT data come together in one place.

The role combines deep platform know-how with an understanding of real estate and facility management operations - ideally in a retail environment with many sites, stores and distribution facilities.

As a Senior Systems Engineer in the Group Real Estate, you will be at the heart of a foundational transformation in IWMS.

    This means that you will:
    • Platform ownership: Serve as the Functional/technical owner and senior subject-matter expert for Planon, responsible for its architecture, configuration standards, stability, and roadmap.
    • Configuration and administration: Own the end-to-end Planon platform (Planon ProCenter / Planon Cloud), including modules, business objects, field definitions, layouts, workflows (BOM/state models), user roles and authorization.
    • Real estate & facility processes: Implement and support IWMS processes such as space and occupancy management, lease and contract management, maintenance (corrective and planned), work orders, assets, service requests and move management.
    • Integrations: Design, build and own integrations between Planon and surrounding systems (ERP /finance, HR, CAD/BIM, identity, ticketing) using Planon Connect, web services/REST APIs, SFTP and middleware. Preferably SAP landscape.
    • BMS & IoT: Lead the connection of building management systems and IoT sensors (occupancy, energy, environmental, alarms) to the IWMS so that events and data automatically create work orders, update assets and feed reporting.
    • Reporting & data: Translate business requirements into reporting solutions and data extracts on space utilization, maintenance KPIs, SLA performance, lease costs and energy consumption.
    • Operations & support: Act as 2nd/3rd line support, investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and manage releases, upgrades and patches across environments (DEV/TEST/PROD).
    • Documentation & quality: Maintain technical documentation, configuration records and test cases; follow change management and release procedures.
    • Solution design: Translate business needs from real estate, facility management and store operations into solution designs, estimates and implementation plans.
    • Vendor & partner management: Work with Planon and implementation partners on upgrades, new modules, licensing, and escalations.
    • Technical leadership: Mentor mid-level engineers, review configuration and integration work, and set best practices for the team.
    • Continuous improvement: Identify automation opportunities and drive the use of building data and IoT insights to reduce cost, energy use and downtime across the portfolio.

    We believe you bring:
    • 7+ years as System Engineer, with substantial hands-on IWMS / Planon experience
    • Hands-on Planon experience: Proven, practical experience configuring, administering and integrating Planon (ProCenter, Planon Cloud, Planon Connect).
    • IWMS / CAFM knowledge: Strong understanding of real estate and facility management processes – space, lease, maintenance, assets and service management.
    • BMS knowledge: Working knowledge of building management systems and protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, KNX or OPC UA, and how BMS data is consumed by business systems.
    • IoT experience: Experience with IoT sensors and platforms for smart buildings (occupancy, energy, HVAC, environmental monitoring).
    • Integration skills: Strong experience with REST/SOAP APIs, XML/JSON, SFTP-based interfaces and middleware.
    • Data skills: Good SQL skills and experience with reporting tools.
    • Experience leading technical workstreams in projects, from requirements through go-live.
    This is our wish list!

The must-haves we see for this role are:
    • IWMS Platform - Expert level: Planon ProCenter, Planon Cloud, Planon Connect, Planon Self-Service, business object and workflow configuration
    • Real Estate Processes - Advanced: Space and occupancy, lease management, maintenance (PPM/corrective), assets, service requests
    • Building Systems - Advanced: BMS/BAS, BACnet, Modbus, KNX, OPC UA, alarms and metering
    • IoT - Advanced: Smart building sensors, IoT gateways, MQTT, IoT platforms
    • Integration - Advanced: REST/SOAP APIs, JSON/XML, SFTP, middleware/iPaaS
    • Data and Reporting - Advanced: SQL, Planon reporting, Power BI or similar
    • Scripting - Intermediate: Python, PowerShell or similar for automation
    • Infrastructure - Intermediate: Cloud/SaaS operations, identity and SSO (Azure AD/Entra ID), environments and release management

    Nice to have:
    • Retail experience: Experience from the retail sector – multi-site store portfolios, distribution centers and store operations.
    • Experience with other IWMS/CAFM tools (e.g. IBM TRIRIGA, Archibus, Spacewell, Facilio).
    • CAD/BIM integration (AutoCAD, Revit) for floor plans and space management.
    • Energy management and ESG/sustainability reporting.
    • Experience with ERP integrations (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
    • Agile working methods (Scrum / Kanban) and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.

    Personal Competencies:
    • Hands-on mindset: comfortable doing the work, not only designing it.
    • Able to communicate clearly with both technical teams and business stakeholders in real estate and facility management.
    • Structured, quality-focused and takes ownership end to end.
    • Coaches and supports less experienced colleagues.
    • Proactive problem solver who brings ideas for improvement.
    • Fluent in English, written and spoken.

    Education and certifications:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
    • Planon certification(s) is a strong advantage.
    • Relevant certifications in IoT, cloud, ITIL or facility management (e.g. IFMA) are a plus.
