  • Why we will love you

You will help us to build the Next Generation of Observability platform that powers engineering teams across IKEA — and use AI every day to work smarter. Our team is at the heart of Operational Intelligence, supporting every engineering team at IKEA.

We build the Observability solution for operational metrics, centralized logging, and distributed tracing for every team at IKEA across multiple global data centers, private and public cloud (GCP, Azure, Alicloud), and many other smaller regions.

We’re a growing platform engineering team building and running IKEA’s Open Source based Observability platform on top of the Grafana stack (Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir) for metrics, logs and traces, across global data centers and cloud (GCP, Alicloud). Today, the platform supports 300 product teams with 1,000+ users, handling 45 TB of log/trace ingest per day and around 70 million time series - and we’re still growing.

What you'll be doing day to day

You’ll help turn our Observability Core platform into a highly automated, self-service platform used by product and infrastructure teams company wide - where using AI to drive effectiveness is a natural part of your daily work (from design and debugging to shipping code).
This senior role will drive research and development for our next generation Observability platform, supporting our 300+ teams and continuously growing.

    What you’ll do
    • Design and evolve a Kubernetes-based Observability platform running in hybrid infrastructure (on prem + GCP/Alicloud).
    • Build fully automated platform workflows with Terraform, Argo CD, Helm and GitHub Actions, integrated into CI/CD.
    • Operate and improve Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir and OpenTelemetry-based Observability for critical services at large scale.
    • Work with platform and product teams to develop new features in the platform supporting their everyday life in Observability insights.
    • Research new features in the Observability community to ensure we always stay on the forefront of development.
    • Act as an SRE/Observability partner to product teams, driving reliability, automation and a great developer experience - continuously leveraging AI tools to increase impact and speed.

    What you bring
    • 5+ years as a systems/software engineer.
    • You have a creative mindset: inquisitive, innovative, and passionate about learning and sharing knowledge.
    • Strong in Python (or Go), comfortable working on platform code and tooling.
    • Hands-on Experience from implementation of different Observability solutions
    • Deep experience with Kubernetes, GCP and/or Alicloud, and running services in hybrid environments.
    • Hands-on skills in Grafana, Mimir, Tempo, Loki, OpenTelemetry and modern SRE/Observability practices.
    • A strong platform engineering mindset for how to build and ship software at scale.
    • You naturally use AI/ML/LLM tools and “vibe coding” to boost your effectiveness - from exploring designs to writing and reviewing code - and you’re comfortable in Agile teams using Jira, Git and CI/CD to deliver value quickly.

    About this work area

    • Hands-on experience with IKEA’s large-scale Observability platform and modern open source tooling (Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir, OpenTelemetry) in a hybrid, multi cloud setup.
    • A vibrant, entrepreneurial, and innovative environment with a small team of dedicated engineers.
    • Great development opportunities and a chance to make a significant impact on IKEA's digital transformation.
    • We care about a healthy, flexible life balance and a culture where you can be yourself and grow – personally and professionally.
