  • What you need to know

As an MS Dynamics Lead Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the Dynamics 365 platform and the product teams that use it. You will help ensure that solutions are designed and implemented consistently, securely and sustainably, while promoting reuse, modern engineering practices and alignment with IKEA’s wider technology ecosystem.

Your initial focus will be on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Case Management for our Contact Centers. Over time, the platform may expand across the broader remote customer meeting point and B2B lead management. You will therefore play an important role in shaping a platform that can support different business capabilities without creating unnecessary complexity or customisation.

This is a senior technical role with broad influence. You will work closely with the Platform Engineering Manager, Platform Architect, Senior Platform Operations Owner, product teams, business stakeholders, security and architecture communities, Microsoft and external delivery partners. You will lead through expertise and collaboration, helping teams make good technical decisions and deliver value at pace.

Fluent English, both written and spoken, is essential, as English is the working language of the global platform team. Please submit with your application in English.

    Your responsibilities

    • Facilitate engineering alignment across the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform and the product teams, delivery teams and technical communities that depend on it.
    • Lead technical initiatives within the Dynamics 365 sub-domain, ensuring that engineering priorities support the platform strategy, product roadmaps and IKEA’s broader technology direction.
    • Promote consistent use of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and related Microsoft cloud capabilities, selecting configuration, low-code, pro-code or external services appropriately.
    • Collaborate with architects and senior engineers on solution design, refactoring and the evolution of the Dynamics 365 platform, ensuring alignment with target architecture and enterprise standards.
    • Identify opportunities for reuse across teams, including integration patterns, APIs, components, data models, automation, security patterns, testing approaches and deployment assets.
    • Reduce duplication, unnecessary customisation and technical debt by encouraging standard platform capabilities, modular design, maintainable extensions and clear exception management.
    • Act as an ambassador for modern software-engineering principles, secure-by-design practices, clean implementation, automation, observability, quality and operational readiness.
    • Help define and apply engineering standards for Dynamics 365 configuration, customisation, solution management, environments, application lifecycle management, CI/CD, testing, release and documentation.
    • Ensure technical solutions consider security, privacy, resilience, performance, accessibility, supportability, scalability and total cost of ownership.
    • Provide day-to-day technical leadership to engineers, developers, technical consultants and external delivery partners, helping them resolve complex problems and make sound trade-offs.
    • Work with Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate needs into feasible technical options, clarify dependencies and explain technical choices in accessible language.
    • Represent the Dynamics 365 engineering perspective in architecture, design, platform governance and technical decision forums, and communicate decisions clearly to affected teams.
    • Facilitate knowledge sharing, technical communities and onboarding for engineers and specialists joining the Dynamics 365 platform capability.

What you bring: knowledge, experience, capabilities and behaviours
    • Good understanding of Microsoft Power Platform and strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, particularly Dynamics 365 Customer Service and Case Management.
    • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 configuration, extensibility, customisation boundaries, security roles, environments and application lifecycle management.
    • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, events, data synchronisation and connected Microsoft cloud services.
    • Understanding of software-engineering practices including source control, CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, observability, release management and documentation.
    • Understanding of secure, resilient, scalable and supportable platform design, including privacy, access control and operational readiness.
    • Awareness of the commercial and operational implications of technical decisions, including licensing, consumption, complexity and long-term maintenance.
    • Several years of experience in software engineering, technical leadership, solution architecture, platform engineering or a comparable role in a complex enterprise environment.
    • Experience leading engineering alignment across multiple product, platform or delivery teams.
    • Experience developing integrations between Dynamics 365 and other enterprise platforms, channels, data services or customer-facing applications.
    • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to evaluating options and trade-offs.
    • Ability to distinguish when to use standard Dynamics 365 capability, configuration, extension, Power Platform services or a separate integration/application component.
    • Ability to influence without relying on formal authority and to build trust with engineers, architects, business stakeholders and partners.
