  • IKEA Manchester are looking to welcome a Sales Assistant to join our Decoration & Outdoor team on a 16 hour or 30 hour contract.

    Love creating inspiring spaces and helping customers bring their homes to life? Join IKEA in our Decoration & Outdoor department, where you'll help customers discover products and ideas that make everyday life at home better.

    From stylish home accessories and seasonal décor to outdoor living solutions, you'll inspire customers with practical, beautiful ideas, offer expert advice, and create an engaging shopping experience. You'll also play an important role in keeping our market hall looking inviting, inspiring and ready for every customer who walks through our doors.

    16-hour contract: Focused primarily on delivering an exceptional customer experience and supporting day-to-day operational activities.

    30-hour contract: Includes additional responsibility for reviewing sales performance, supporting departmental targets, identifying opportunities for improvement, and providing commercially focused recommendations to the leadership team.



    WHAT WE OFFER

    • The Start Date of employment will be: 15th november 2026.
    • Hourly rate of £13.45 per hour.
    • 16 hours weekly, working 4 days over 7 and 3 out of 4 weekends.
    • 30 hours weekly, working 5 days over 7 and alternative weekends.
    • Working hours are between 8am and 10pm.

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE

    • You are skilled at forward planning, can handle several tasks at once with ease, and take pleasure in being a team member as well as fulfilling responsibilities on your own.
    • You have a customer first mindset, where you make the customer feel valued and supported in everything you do.
    • You take initiative, make well-informed choices, and actively engage with your daily tasks.
    • You prioritise and organise your own work to make efficient use of the time available with great attention to detail.
    • Efficient, results-driven, and highly organized.
    • Proficient with IT and hand held equipment.

    Additional responsibilities for the 30-hour contract

    • Review and analyse sales performance to identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
    • Monitor progress against departmental goals and take action to help keep the team on track.
    • Use commercial insight and strategic thinking to support decision-making and drive performance.
    • Work closely with the leadership team, sharing recommendations on what is working well and where improvements could be made.
    • Take a more active role in supporting the delivery of departmental and store objectives.


    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

    • You provide an inspirational shopping experience for our customers by actively approaching them to identify their needs and advising them on the best solutions for their life at home.
    • You are always enthusiastic about the range, curious to learn the stories behind the products and their design.
    • You support maximising sales by ensuring the areas are clean, fully stocked, all products priced, well presented and easy to shop.
    • Manual handling heavy products safely, using ladders and pump trucks.
