Job description
About the role
As a Production Engineer for IKEA Components, you will play a key role in driving the engineering and quality agenda together with our suppliers across Southeast Asia.
You will work as part of a business team and act as the main contact for suppliers in Engineering and Quality topics, ensuring stable production processes, high product quality and full compliance with IKEA requirements
As a Production Engineer, you will secure and support the engineering and quality agenda with the overall goal to improve the customer satisfaction. Furthermore, you will be the main contact towards the suppliers for Engineering and Quality topics. As part of the business team, you will work with suppliers to: develop and secure the production process, handle quality deviations and secure compliance to all IKEA requirements.
The majority of the role is related to packaging and handling materials, therefore experience from the paper and cardboard industry is considered an advantage.
A day in your life with us
You will:
Quality & Production Assurance
- Secure implementation of product specifications and IKEA requirements at suppliers
- Evaluate supplier production facilities, technical capability and quality performance
- Perform product audits and production risk assessments
- Drive stable and capable production processes
Quality Deviation & Improvement
- Lead quality deviation handling, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
- Act on quality alarms and customer complaints
- Drive continuous improvements using Lean methods (RCA, FMEA, 5 Why, etc.)
Supplier Development
- Work closely with suppliers to develop and improve production and quality performance
- Lead supplier development activities and action plans
- Build long-term partnerships based on trust and collaboration
Product Development & Implementation
- Support product development with production and supplier insights
- Secure implementation of new and updated requirements
- Verify production capability and measurement systems (MSA, CTQ)
Qualification
Who you are
You are curious about production reality, passionate about improvements, and motivated to deliver high-quality products for many people.
We believe you have:
Experience & Knowledge
- At least 3–5 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment
- Educational background in Engineering or equivalent
- Good knowledge of production processes, materials and technologies
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or quality tools (RCA, FMEA, etc.)
- Understanding of quality systems and Total Quality Management
Capabilities
- Strong analytical and structured way of working
- Ability to solve problems and make decisions with a holistic view
- Capability to lead improvements and secure implementation
- Ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with
- Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.
