Job description
As a Software Engineer in Digital Automation, you will design, develop, test, deploy and maintain high-quality software that enables automation and supports business outcomes across the IKEA value chain. You will work within an agile, cross-functional team and contribute across the full software lifecycle, from understanding needs and shaping solutions to operating and continuously improving them in production.
You will apply modern software engineering principles and use appropriate tools, automation and delivery practices to create secure, reliable, reusable and maintainable solutions. Within Digital Automation, your work may include workflow and process automation, integrations, APIs, low-code or pro-code extensions, data models, cloud services and AI-enabled capabilities. The exact technology focus will depend on the assigned product, platform or technology domain.
More specifically, in this role you will (be):
- Develop and operate software for the assigned Digital Automation product, platform or technology domain, taking shared responsibility for quality throughout its lifecycle.
- Deliver tested, deployable and maintainable code that supports agreed business outcomes, architecturalprinciples and securityrequirements.
- Apply and promote modern softwareengineeringpractices, including versioncontrol, codereview, automatedtesting, continuousintegration and continuousdelivery.
- Work collaboratively in an agile, cross-functionalteam, contributing to planning, backlogrefinement, delivery, maintenance and continuousimprovement.
- Create and evaluate solutionproposals and prototypes, such as mock-ups, datamodels, integrations or proof-of-conceptimplementations.
- Continuously explorerelevanttechnologies, tools, standards and working methods that can improve innovation, productivity, reliability and userexperience.
- Produce and maintain appropriate technicaldocumentation and proactivelyshareknowledge, learning and good practices with colleagues.
- Contribute to team and product performance indicators and work with colleagues to continuously improvedeliveryeffectiveness and technicalquality.

Experience & Qualifications
- Formal qualifications in computer science, software engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Minimum three years of professional experience as a Software Engineer.
- Experience designing, implementing, testing, deploying and maintaining software solutions.
- Experience working in agile software development teams with a DevOps working setup, self-organisation and delivery against agreed commitments.
- Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional and culturally diverse teams.
- Experience with digital automation, workflow solutions, integrations, APIs, cloud services, low-code platforms or AI-enabled solutions is an advantage.
Knowledge & Motivation:
- Good knowledge of software engineering principles and modern development practices using industry-standard tools.
- Good knowledge of design and architecture concepts, and the ability to follow agreed architectural, security and interoperability requirements.
- Technical knowledge of relevant technologies, standards, protocols and interfaces, and the ability to apply them effectively.
- Clear communication skills, verbally and in writing, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across organisational levels and backgrounds.
- Passion for delivering high-quality software and a great user experience.
- Motivation to continuously develop programming skills and stay curious about evolving tools, technologies and ways of working.
- A solution-oriented, collaborative mindset, with the confidence to navigate uncertainty, challenge existing approaches and prototype new ideas.
