We are currently building a modern Azure-based data platform to address the growing reporting and data management needs of the Forestlands team. We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping our data infrastructure, integrating diverse systems, and enabling actionable insights.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will take the lead in setting up standards and defining the architecture for the platform. You’ll have a significant impact in shaping the solution, influencing both the technical roadmap and the adoption of actionable insights across business teams. Looking ahead, this role offers growth opportunities, including the potential to lead and mentor a growing team in the future. In this role, you will design, build, and support robust data pipelines and data platforms to integrate and harmonize complex forestry-related datasets from multiple countries and systems. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll deliver scalable, efficient, and high-quality solutions that power critical KPIs, including land acquisitions, sustainability contributions, carbon tracking, and financial performance.
We would love to talk with you if you recognize yourself in the majority of the following:
• Formal qualifications (BSc, MSc, PhD) in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in Data Engineering
• Have developed and maintained ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and standardize data from diverse sources (APIs, databases, CSVs, etc.) into a central data warehouse
• Have implemented Implement data quality checks, governance frameworks, and compliance (e.g., GDPR)
• Have built scalable and secure data platforms that support analytics and reporting requirements
• Experience in optimizing data performance, cost, storage, and reliability for near-real-time insights.
• Experience in Developing data solutions leveraging Azure services, such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data bricks, Data Factory and other Azure Data Services.

What you'll be doing day to day
The Sr Data Engineer will be a hands-on contributor in finding solutions to questions like:
• How do we design, build, test and support data products and cloud-based services to promote data consumption?
• How should we ingest, merge, transform, and serve data to enable usage at the global scale?
• How can we implement data models, schemas, and pipelines to satisfy both user needs and non-functional requirements?
• How can we optimize the platform in terms of performance and costs?
