    What you need to know

    Working at IKEA has its benefits and rewards:
    • $28.31 per hour base rate (Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm)
    • $42.47 per hour Sunday rate (9:00am to 11:00pm), plus above-award pay and applicable penalty rates, including weekends and public holidays

    Additional Information
    • Permanent Part-time 50 hours/fortnight
    • Internal job tile is Customer Co-worker
    • Rotating roster across Monday to Sunday, with shifts scheduled between 9:30am and 10:00pm
    • Availability to work 3 out of every 4 weekends, including both Saturday and Sunday
    • Operating hours are 9:30am to 8:00pm on Monday, Tuesday and Sunday, and 9:30am to 10:00pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

    Recruitment Process
    • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a pre-recorded video interview
    • Selected candidates will then attend an in-person interview with the hiring team
    • Successful applicants will commence employment with IKEA on Monday, 28 September

    About this work area

    As a Customer Experience Co-worker, you play an important role in creating a positive and memorable experience for every customer. You will be the face of IKEA at key customer touchpoints, supporting customers with enquiries, returns, exchanges, and solutions that make their shopping experience easier and more enjoyable.

    Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
    • Delivering excellent customer service by assisting customers, answering questions, and creating a positive shopping experience.
    • Processing returns, exchanges, and refunds while ensuring compliance with IKEA policies and procedures.
    • Resolving customer enquiries and complaints by identifying solutions and escalating complex issues when required.
    • Recording customer interactions and transaction information accurately within IKEA systems.
    • Completing daily operational tasks and ensuring the department is clean, safe, and ready for customers.
    • Working collaboratively with co-workers across the store to deliver a seamless customer experience.
    • Ensuring customers leave IKEA with a positive final impression of their visit.



    As a Customer Experience Co-worker, you are passionate about customers and enjoy finding solutions that make a difference. You thrive in a busy retail environment and can stay positive and professional when managing competing priorities.

    You have:
    • A genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport and confidently resolve customer concerns.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgement when handling customer situations.
    • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, changing retail environment.
    • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
    • Experience in customer service, retail, or a similar customer-facing environment will be highly regarded.
    • Confidence using digital systems and technology, with the ability to accurately process customer transactions, maintain records, and quickly learn new tools and processes.
