  • IKEA Forus is currently looking for a Visual Merchandiser / Activity Co-worker for a permanent full-time position (100%).

As a Visual Merchandiser / Activity Co-worker, you will play a key role in shaping the customer experience throughout the store. You will create inspiring and engaging room settings that help customers discover solutions that fit their everyday life at home, while making it easy for them to explore and shop our range.

    Why join us?
IKEA has been a part of the Forus retail area for decades and continues to be an important destination for customers across the region. Today, IKEA Forus is one of Norway`s most visited IKEA stores and a key meeting place for home furnishing inspiration. Stavanger offers the perfect blend of city life and easy access to nature, making it a great place to live and work. The store is part of a vibrant and growing region known for its stunning coastline, outdoor lifestyle, rich cultural scene, and strong international community.

    About this work area

As a Visual Merchandiser/Activity Co-worker, you will be responsible for planning and implementing how the store is presented to our customers. You will work with store layout, visual displays, lighting, and merchandising techniques to create a simple, inspiring, and commercially strong shopping experience.

Using insights into everyday life at home in our local market, you will create solutions that are relevant and inspiring for our customers. You will ensure high quality and cost-conscious execution by leveraging IKEA's global tools, guidelines, and best practices, while staying up to date with trends and developments in home furnishing and retail. This role combines creativity, commercial thinking, and hands-on execution.

The position involves a high degree of practical work on the shop floor, including assembling displays and room settings, using tools, and working at heights on ladders when required. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across multiple functions to create inspiring customer experiences and bring the IKEA range to life in the store.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where no two days are the same. At IKEA, plans can change, priorities can shift, and new needs can arise quickly. We are therefore looking for someone who is adaptable, proactive, and comfortable making decisions and adjusting their approach along the way.

Your day-to-day work will be varied, with multiple activities and projects running in parallel and often within tight deadlines. You enjoy juggling different priorities, collaborating with a wide range of people, and staying focused when the pace is high. You are solution-oriented, take initiative, and help drive projects forward. While you are confident working independently, you also know when to involve others and proactively communicate if plans or timelines are at risk.

You do not need a specific degree or many years of experience to succeed in this role. What matters most is that you have a strong visual eye, an interest in retail and customer experience, and the drive, curiosity, and motivation to learn and grow. Experience or education in visual merchandising, retail design, interior design, or a related field is considered an advantage, but it is not required.

We believe you will thrive in this role if you:
    • Are motivated by the IKEA concept, retail, and creating great customer experiences
    • Have a strong visual sense and the ability to turn ideas into inspiring and commercially impactful solutions
    • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with change and shifting priorities
    • Take ownership, communicate clearly, and drive tasks through to completion
    • Collaborate effectively with a variety of people while also being comfortable working independently when needed
    • Enjoy a hands-on and physically active work environment
