Why we will love you

My name is Emelie, Engineering Manager within the Co-worker Engagements & Insights subdomain in Ingka Digital (IKEA). I’m now looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of my teams working with Ingka’s global internal communication channels including intranet and internal news, (built on SharePoint Online Modern), and internal video platform, (built on Kaltura).

As a Senior Software Engineer we believe you’ll join us in our strive to leverage the underlying platform, but also be inspired by the opportunity to build customisations to ensure the solution is fit to our organisation and its purpose. Recent examples of customisations we’ve worked on include custom multilanguage solutions, and exploration of genAI for improved content quality and search optimisation.

You share our vision of becoming the world’s leading multichannel home furnishing retailer and you believe good software is an essential ingredient of achieving that vision. We believe you have a great understanding of what simplicity and togetherness means. You know when to take and to give responsibility for what needs to be done. You care about your team and its software, and you continuously push for improvements in quality and speed. Together we will design, develop, deploy, release, and run our applications.

What you'll be doing day to day

As a full stack engineer you will be part of a DevOps team that cover application management, architecture, and web development in SharePoint, Azure and Kaltura.

The products we work with are primary communication channels for our 170 000+ co-workers around the world. We work very closely with multiple business stakeholders and help them bring out the message and needed information we want to convey to the many co-workers. This means we’re always evolving and challenging ourselves to bring top class quality and experience for our colleagues.

The Senior Software Engineer we are looking for should:

• Have a curious nature and actively acquire new knowledge and skills
• Champion new methods, digital systems, and processes to improve performance
• Have a proven ability to develop high quality code using and applying good practices
• Have advanced training in computer science or similar experience through keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise
• Be experienced in working in an Agile and DevOps environment and thrive on taking full accountability for the products and the customer experience
• Get energised by delivering high quality software, with a focus on well-functioning software ecosystems, democratic data, smart infrastructure and building a resilient foundation
• Not be afraid to share your opinion and join conversations with other product teams and stakeholders to set common engineering standards

YOUR SKILLS INCLUDE:

You should be comfortable working independently in all aspects of development in SharePoint and be able to drive best practice within this area. This means you will take an active part in the team collaboration and engage in the agile development life cycle, from user story analysis to maintaining solutions in production and everything in between.

To be a good fit you will ideally have experience in several of the following areas:

Strong knowledge of software engineering practices including design, development and documentation using industry standard tools,
Strong knowledge of developing in SharePoint generally and SharePoint Online Modern primarily,.
Strong knowledge of cloud development on GCP and/or Azure – you have a good understanding of cloud storage, databases, serverless and you understand how to use cloud-native in production,
Strong knowledge of working with Git and establishing and/or working with CI/CD pipelines
Strong understanding of API design. API 1st mindset, REST API design,
Good understanding of event-based architectures,
Broad experience from various system integration scenarios,
Experience and/or interest to learn more about search analysis and enhancement options,.
Experience and/or interest to learn more about AI,
Good understanding of development with a security and privacy mindset.
You should feel comfortable working with a variety of technologies, i.e. tech agnostic.

Prior knowledge of Kaltura video platform is beneficial.

Studies show that members of underrepresented communities don't apply for jobs unless they're 100% "qualified". If this is part of the reason you hesitate to apply, we like you to reconsider and give it a chance. Maybe your profile fits our needs much better than you think. We look forward to receiving your application.
