IKEA of Sweden in Älmhult is the heart of all IKEA product development. It’s here the iconic products that make IKEA unique worldwide are created and developed. Basically, this is where the entire product range comes to life, from the first drawing board sketches to the final product.  

The product developer program 

We will give you together with five others the opportunity to join IKEA of Sweden as a product developer. You will learn about IKEA, how we work to ensure that the IKEA range stays relevant, commercial, compliant and unique in a global environment. 

In this 12-month program, you will run your own product development projects and at the same time develop into the role while working together with an experienced IKEA Product Developer and their team.   

Job Description 

As a Product Developer in IKEA of Sweden, you lead the product development with a strong business focus in an assigned area from idea to a final product, ready to meet our customers.  

Together with a cross functional team you translate people’s needs and dreams into IKEA products and a product range offer for today and tomorrow.  You are constantly striving for the highest possible value from a consumer perspective to the lowest possible cost. To deliver our ambitions on time and within budget are priorities in this role. You use your imagination, entrepreneurship and team collaboration to find great solutions, and thereby generate growth through a profitable and sustainable business.     

Qualifications 

You are strongly motivated by our vision to create a better everyday life for the many people built on deep knowledge about life at home and customer needs. You have a curious and courageous mindset and an urge to continuously improve, change and influence.  

Proven leadership in aligning cross-functional teams towards a common goal, building strong networks and relationships, and fostering a design-thinking culture to translate imagination into actionable results. Deep knowledge in product development, exploration and ideation methods.  

Effective communicator with the ability to visualize and inspire, while translating knowledge and insights into products for the many people. 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify business potential, secure growth, and improve business positioning through proactive actions. Understanding material and production techniques, optimizing products with sales channels and supply chain preconditions in mind.  

As you are going to work in an international context, you are fluent in English, both verbal and in written.  

Additional information 

The program is aiming to start in April/May 2025.  

This role is a permanent position based in Älmhult, Sweden. We believe in togetherness as one of our key values, one of the ways we do this is by being physically together and spending the majority of the time in the office. 

In the role as Product Developer you are expected to travel occasionally to our suppliers in different parts of the world.
