A day in your life with us
You’re an experienced engineer with a passion for building globally scalable, automatically tested, and reliable systems. You’re committed to personal growth and helping others grow, unafraid to ask questions or share knowledge, and always focused on doing the right thing.
You’re well-versed in best practices, microservice architecture, testing, automation, cloud development, and the tools that support them. While you know perfect code doesn’t exist, you continue to pursue it without compromising on delivering value to customers.
Our landscape is vast, with numerous domains and subdomains. You know how to collaborate with others and reach consensus, understanding that perfection is the enemy of good.
You’re always juggling a big backlog, but you have a clear sense of what adds immediate value and what can wait, and you’re able to communicate your reasoning to others.
Preferred Technical Skills:
• At least 2 years of professional experience as a developer, with a focus on the specific tech stack for the role.
• Cloud experience, with a preference for GCP; experience with Alibaba Cloud is also valued.
• Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies, with modern DevOps practices.
• Experience with Go, Java, or similar programming languages, writing well-designed and efficient code.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot microservices and API management.
• Experience with event-driven architecture using tools like Kafka, Pub/Sub, etc.
• Knowledge of modern, fully automated development and deployment processes.
• Strong understanding of design patterns and a high technical aptitude.
• Experience with NoSQL and relational database technologies.
• Knowledge of logging, alerting, tracing, and debugging in cloud environments.
• Security concepts, particularly in cloud environments.
About this work area
The success of IKEA’s e-commerce delivery and collection services is heavily reliant on a stable and cost-effective fulfillment network. This network is crucial to ensuring a seamless shopping experience for customers while optimizing operational efficiency and protecting the brand's reputation.
Fulfilment Network - A fulfilment network refers to the infrastructure and processes involved in getting products from a seller to a customer efficiently and effectively.
This network typically includes Warehouses, Stores, Suppliers, DC's (Distribution Center), Transportation Services and Technology Systems for managing inventory, orders, and shipping. By maintaining an efficient fulfilment network, businesses can ensure fast shipping, accurate inventory levels, and reliable service - key factors in staying competitive in the fast-paced world of e-commerce.
We are building a fulfillment network solution using event-driven cloud architecture. While we face numerous challenges, we are prepared and excited to become truly agile with modern architecture – and we hope to achieve this with your help.
We strive to build driven, empowered agile teams who understand priorities and collaborate effectively with other teams and domains. We’re all in this together, supporting one another and sharing knowledge regularly.
Our goal is to be best-in-class – it’s an ambitious target, but why settle for less? If you share that mindset, you’ll fit right in and help us push boundaries!
We live by our values, and they’re all important. I’d be happy to share more, but for me, the key ones are Togetherness, Simplicity, Leading by Example, and Meaningful Uniqueness. Reach out, and I’ll explain them in more detail!
Studies show that members of underrepresented communities don’t apply for jobs unless they’re 100% “qualified”. If this is part of the reason you hesitate to apply, we like you to reconsider and give it a chance. Maybe your profile fits our needs much better than you think. We look forward to receiving your application.
