About the area
Inter IKEA Group is organized in three core businesses - Range, Supply and Retail Concept - and five enabling functions. Together we contribute to the success of IKEA and share responsibility for the franchise offer.
The enabling functions lead key common activities in networks across Inter IKEA Group, as well as cover specific needs for the core businesses. The five Enabling functions are Operations Management, Business Performance & Support, Communication, Sustainability and People & Culture.
Operations Management leads and holds together the development and maintenance of a common foundation for how we work together across the value chain, our operating model. We enable strategic movements towards the IKEA goals through the strategic landscape and work closely with all parts of the value chain to achieve them. It includes teams for business insights, capability and process development, strategy and roadmap, data and product, and technology.

Job description
Join our dynamic Data and Analytics team as a Platform Engineer with a focus on Databricks platform development and operations. In this critical role, you will design, develop, manage, and operate high-quality shared platforms that support efficient operations across IKEA's value chain. Utilizing both new and existing technologies and delivery methods, you will help drive our digital agenda, ensuring IKEA remains at the forefront of a rapidly evolving environment.
Assignment
As a Platform Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, running, and lifecycle managing high-quality platforms that enable products and services, using the appropriate tools, methods, and frameworks.
- Creating platform designs that adhere to best practices and standards in architecture, security, performance, and reliability to meet requirements and compliance.
- Collaborating within agile/DevOps teams to manage the development and lifecycle of platforms and services, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
- Implementing and promoting good platform engineering practices to improve time to market and meet business needs.
- Driving change activities across different environments to ensure platform functionality and availability.
- Delivering tests, performance analysis, configuration management, and creating functional/feature specifications to enhance platform, product, and service delivery.
- Continuously exploring and evaluating new technologies to enhance innovation and productivity.
- Providing support and guidance to consumers, promoting best practices and collaboration.
- Enabling a data-driven culture at IKEA by transitioning from legacy analytics to modern technology platforms.
Qualification
About you
You are a passionate Platform Engineer with substantial experience working on the Databricks platform. You have a strong background in data platforms or enterprise solutions and a keen understanding of data democratization. Your expertise includes working as a platform and/or software engineer in complex cloud-based analytic solutions, particularly with Azure tools.

- Proficiency in design and architecture concepts.

- Ability to lead by example, fostering simplicity, efficiency, ownership, and accountability.
- Enthusiastic about acquiring new knowledge and championing new methods and processes to improve performance.
- Flexible and adaptable to new ideas, approaches, and strategies.
- Excellent collaboration skills with team members, stakeholders, and suppliers (including virtual collaboration).
- Proficient in clearly communicating technical concepts and processes at appropriate levels.
- Understanding of IKEA's business complexity and the integrated role of technology.
- Familiarity with IKEA’s corporate identity, core values, and vision.
- Experience working in agile/iterative software development teams with a DevOps setup.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Qualifications
- Formal qualifications in computer science, platform engineering, or any engineering equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience within platform engineering with at least 3 years of experience as a platform engineer, specifically with the Databricks platform.
- Experience of working in agile/iterative platform development teams with a DevOps working set-up and with an emphasis on self-organisation and delivery to agreed commitments

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week) and based in Malmö, Sweden. This role sits in Data & Analytics, Data & Product, Operations Management, and reports to Data Operations Manager, Markus Lentinen.
