    Who you are

    As an IKEA Food Team Leader, you are or have:
    • Proven experience managing fast-paced environments (minimum 2 years), ideally in QSR or hospitality.
    • Experience leading a customer service team of 15–20 direct reports within a medium to large retail or food environment.
    • Friendly, engaging, and customer-focused mindset, with a genuine love for creating a welcoming environment.
    • Skilled in team leadership, rostering, and training, with a coaching style that brings out the best in others.
    • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, and ability to maintain compliance.
    • Resilient under pressure and able to plan and juggle multiple priorities, coordinating numerous moving pieces.
    • Ability to build rapport and effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels to consistently deliver operational excellence.

    About this work area

    As an IKEA Food Team Leader, you will play a key role in creating a safe, healthy, and joyful food experience for our customers. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
    • Lead, develop and coach your team to deliver exceptional customer experiences, ensuring they receive the right support, training, and mentoring.
    • Maintain IKEA Quality and Food Safety Standards, including compliance with HACCP and local food legislation, and ensure operational routines are implemented daily.
    • Keep the Food department clean, organised, and inviting, ensuring both commercial and operational areas meet IKEA standards.
    • Actively sell and merchandise IKEA Food products, finding creative ways to drive sales and enhance the customer experience.
    • Support and lead change management initiatives within the department and across the store.

    What you need to know

    • This role is permanent, full-time.
    • The internal job title is Food Team Leader.
    • Work location is IKEA Sylvia Park.
    • As our store operates 7 days a week, you’ll need to be available to work on a rotating roster, which includes a mix of day and evening shifts aligned with our trading hours. Weekend availability is essential.
    • As part of the recruitment process, final candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment check, including a Ministry of Justice (MOJ) check.
    • A leave blackout applies during December and January due to our store opening—no leave will be approved during this period.
    • IKEA is a non-smoking workplace.
