    What you'll be doing day to day
    Are you curious about customer behavior and interested in retail? Join us as a Design Research Intern and be part of our diverse, distributed team of twenty researchers based in Madrid, Malmö, and Amsterdam.

    We’re looking for a curious and motivated student or graduate in design research, sociology, psychology, or a related field. Our ideal candidate is in the final years of their studies and preferably has some training in digital design, along with a strong interest in the field.

    In this role, you’ll help uncover insights to improve IKEA’s customer experience across store, web, app and new services — by engaging with both customers and co-workers. Alongside conducting tactical user research, you will also support colleagues in larger exploratory research projects. You will gain hands-on experience with both qualitative and quantitative methods, including in-store visits and online research.

    This internship is a great opportunity to not only develop research skills, but also to work with global teams, and to gain experience in stakeholder management and effective communication.

    Please read the following before applying:

    We only accept students who live within commuting distance to the office in Madrid during the time of the internship, and who are connected to a university within the country. To participate in this internship, you must be enrolled in a relevant university program or educational course. Full-time is favoured, but a min. of 50% per week is acceptable. No exceptions will be made.

    Duration: Fall 2025. Start date: September 1st 2025.
