  • Company description

At IKEA, we're building the next generation of data capabilities that make trusted data accessible across the business. As part of our Data & Engineering organization, we are establishing a new Data Enablement team with a mission to make it easy for coworkers, digital products, and AI solutions to find, trust, understand, and consume data at scale.

The team will build products and services that bring together data platforms, metadata, governance capabilities, and enterprise systems into a unified and intuitive experience. By connecting technologies such as Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Collibra, SAP, M3, and future data sources, we aim to make data easier to discover, understand, and use across the organization.

We believe data should be as easy to find and use as any other digital product. Through modern software engineering, product thinking, and platform capabilities, we are transforming how data producers and consumers connect, enabling better decisions, faster innovation, and greater business impact across IKEA.

    Job description

As a Software Engineer, you will be part of a newly established team building the foundations for how data is consumed at IKEA.

You will design and develop software products, integrations, APIs, and user experiences that help users navigate and interact with our enterprise data ecosystem. Your work will focus on reducing complexity and enabling self-service through intuitive solutions that connect data producers and consumers.

    In this role, you will:

    • Design, build, and maintain software products and platform capabilities that improve how data is discovered and consumed.
    • Develop APIs, services, and integrations connecting Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Collibra, SAP, M3, and related systems.
    • Build software capabilities that support metadata management, lineage, governance, discovery, and trusted access to data.
    • Create reusable software components and automation that improve platform usability and scalability.
    • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and users to create intuitive experiences that simplify how data is discovered, understood, and consumed.
    • Collaborate with engineers, product teams, architects, and data specialists across IKEA.
    • Contribute to modern engineering practices including DevOps, CI/CD, testing, and observability.
    • Help establish engineering standards and contribute to a strong software engineering culture.
    • Continuously improve developer experience and self-service capabilities across the data ecosystem.

We need a passionate Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and building high-quality products that create value for users and the business. You are curious, collaborative, and continuously seek opportunities to improve both your technical expertise and the solutions you build.

You have a strong engineering mindset and take pride in developing maintainable, scalable, and secure software. You enjoy building software products, APIs, developer experiences, and user-facing capabilities that simplify how people interact with complex data ecosystems.

You thrive in cross-functional teams where sharing knowledge, learning from others, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement are a natural part of everyday work. You are comfortable working in modern engineering environments and understand the importance of balancing speed, quality, and long-term sustainability when developing software solutions.

You are motivated by creating intuitive and impactful experiences that make it easier for coworkers, products, and AI solutions to discover, understand, and consume trusted data. Most importantly, you are passionate about building technology that enables others to succeed while contributing to an open, inclusive, and collaborative engineering culture.

    Qualification
    • Solid experience in software engineering and modern development practices.
    • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, TypeScript, Java, Go, or similar.
    • Experience building applications, APIs, integrations, platform services, or developer-facing products.
    • Experience working in cloud environments such as Azure and/or AWS.
    • Understanding of distributed systems and scalable software design.
    • Experience working with engineering best practices, including testing, automation, code reviews, CI/CD, and observability.
    • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices.
    • Experience or strong interest in building products around data discovery, metadata, governance, developer experience, or data consumption.
    • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and business teams.
    • A curious mindset and a passion for building products that enable others.
