Mechanical Design Engineer

Together with us in the team you will develop the IKEA product offer for this essential part of our customers’ homes.  

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer temporary position for 11 months start January 2026 

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will ensure that our products are fit for production and will create a great customer experience. You will be part of the development team work in close co-operation with different stakeholders throughout the value chain to find the optimal construction, always with our customers on top of mind together with costs, quality and our sustainability agenda.  

Your main responsibilities will be to: 

• Implement of part-centric document development in Product Lifecycle Management system and maintain the 3D models and 2D drawings with all relevant dimensions and tolerances according to the IKEA CAD Standard 

• Create 3D models and virtual prototypes for textile products. 

• Ensure that our products are developed with both production and customer focus 

• Apply existing shared solutions, standard components, and materials 

Knowledge and experience 

• You have a university engineering degree in textiles technology, product development, or product design, or equivalent experience  

• You have experience in product development and working with different kinds of materials and production methods. 

• You have competence in 3D CAD engineering tools such as CLO and SOLIDWORKS. 

• You have a passion for details, constantly curious and driven to develop new and better solutions.  

• English language on business level-verbal and written communication.

Please note, this is a temporary position, 11month based in Älmhult, Sweden. We do offer the possibility to work from home but embrace collaboration, which is why it is important that you can be at our office the majority of the time.
