For our Digital hub in Amsterdam, we are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team in developing and bringing to the next level our machine learning models for forecasting and planning. Our Fulfilment, Forecasting and Planning team is responsible for providing accurate forecasts of sales and articles in our global stores and warehouses. It plays a crucial role in planning efficiently our fulfilment network and automize the forecasting challenges that our coworkers experience daily.

Our team within IKEA

You will join the Data & Analytics Fulfilment Forecasting and Planning team. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will leverage machine learning, your advanced analytics skills and your strong business acumen to drive the implementation and adoption of predictive models that enhance our forecasting and planning processes. Your work will directly impact IKEA ability to improve operational experience for our coworkers as well as impacting fulfilment costs. We are proud of our vision to improve the everyday life of the many people. But our industry is quickly changing, and we need to adapt to stay competitive.

You will be part of a cross functional team consisting of other data scientist, data analysts, software engineers and product owners. You will participate to the full product development process, from understanding the problem, developing and validating ML models, then delivering and running our models in production. You will take end-to-end ownership of such models and, as you are always looking for new and better ways forward, you will work together with other teams and stakeholders across the organization to improve them. Also, as senior in the team, you will have the possibility to share your knowledge with your colleagues and mentor junior team members to foster their professional and personal growth within IKEA.

Here is our wish list! If you don’t recognize yourself in all these points, you might still be an excellent candidate for the role. We like to think long-term and invest in people’s development together with us.

- Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
- Good knowledge of Python, SQL
- Experience with Machine Learning libraries and frameworks (e.g., XGBoost, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Experience with cloud data warehouses and services (preferably Google BigQuery, Azure Cloud, Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of statistical methods, time series analysis, and predictive modeling techniques.
- Confident in digging into code and understanding how things are working
- Demonstrated ability to apply analytical findings to real-world business problems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset

Nice to have:
- Experience with MLOps practices and tools for deploying and maintaining machine learning models in production.
- Broad knowledge of digital product development principles and collaborative software engineering practices (Git, Agile, Scrum, DevOps)
- Any form of domain expertise in retail fulfilment process, supply chain and/or logistics operations
