Additional information:
• This role is temporary, full time (fixed term, until November 2025)
• The work location for the role is Service Office, Tempe NSW, where hybrid working including a minimum of 3 days in the Service Office is required.
• As part of the recruitment process this role requires a pre-employment check for final candidates.
• If you are successful for this role, you will be required to obtain a National Police Clearance.
About this work area
We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Specialist who is excited to take on an opportunity that does not come around often – supporting IKEA with entry into a new country! As Communications Specialist for the New Zealand Project, you will be joining the IKEA New Zealand Integration Project team. This team is dedicated to setting up the IKEA New Zealand organisation and preparing for the launch of the first ever IKEA store and online shopping experience in the country.
As Communications Specialist your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Developing and managing the delivery of communication strategies, plans and recommendations that cover public relations, internal communications and public affairs.
• Driving project management of internal and external communication projects.
• Defining, planning, creating/executing and following up on internal and external communications
• Developing strong media relationships and proactive news angles to ensure a steady stream of coverage for the brand.
• Staying up-to-date on current affairs in order to create opportunities to position our stories in a way that resonates with the New Zealand market.
• Working with stakeholder analysis and stakeholder management for external audiences
• Using stakeholder management skills to support in coordinating & communicating with a wide variety of internal stakeholders..
• Navigating stakeholder priorities and feedback within the team, throughout the wider organisation and externally.
• Actively pushing for the improvement of content creation and co-worker engagement, based on trends in communication and the latest developments within the communication field.
• Supporting with and/or leading transformation communications projects as required.
As Communications Specialist you are a communication all-rounder with an understanding of public relations, public affairs and internal communications. You are confident in coordinating many moving parts with internal & external stakeholders. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced hands on environment. You work well with a diverse range of stakeholders and enjoy the challenge of translating a concept to a clear and impactful message for the business. You are organised, adaptable and work well to deadlines. You are creative, yet confident in following our brand guidelines to ensure consistency in across our internal & external messaging. You thrive in learning new skills and capabilities that help you amplify the impact of communications. As part of this role, you will be required to travel to New Zealand during the project timeline. This role requires you to demonstrate previous experience in project management, planning and delivery of strategic communication.
