Quality Developer - Category Contract Logistics, IKEA Supply Chain Operations

Supply Chain Operations (SCO) is a global business unit within IKEA Supply, connecting customers with IKEA products in a simple, affordable, and sustainable way. With over 700 co-workers, we lead, plan, and execute the supply of products between suppliers and retailers. We deliver excellent transport and logistics solutions by optimizing replenishment, managing goods flow, sourcing and developing transport and logistics capacities, and securing supply quality.

Category Contract Logistics is responsible for sourcing and operating outsourced warehouses and logistics services at optimal cost, while meeting high service and quality standards. We ensure safety, security, and sustainability, continuously contributing to the IKEA vision. To support our quality agenda, we are now looking for a Quality Developer to join our team in  Bucharest, Europe.

About the Role

Handling damage across IKEA's global logistics network is a significant cost, and performance varies widely by region and location. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Quality Developer to lead the redesign of how we measure, manage and continuously improve handling quality across our global Consolidation Point and warehouse network. This role directly supports three strategic business priorities:

• Low cost: by reducing handling damage and operational waste, you lower total supply chain cost.
• Growth: by building reliable, quality-driven partnerships with service providers, you enable us to scale operations and support IKEA's growth ambitions.
• Visitation: by ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery, you strengthen the reliability that drives store visitation and repeat business.

You will move us beyond cost-based metrics to fact-driven quality standards: redesigning the KPIs, building a transparent quality data foundation, scouting and scaling proven innovations from leading operators, and coaching business teams and service providers to adopt best practice. The work balances analytical discipline with strong stakeholder influence, working directly with regional business teams and service providers across Europe, Asia and North America to turn insight into sustainable operational improvement.

As Quality Developer you hold the global quality agenda for Category Contract Logistics. The business teams remain responsible for quality in their own units and with their service providers, while you drive the direction, the standards and the measurement, lead global topics and projects, and are the expert the Service Provider Operations Developers turn to. This role is Category Contract Logistics' entry point into the Quality organisation in SCO, connecting our category quality agenda into the broader IKEA quality network.

This is a full-time role based in our office in Bucharest, reporting to the Category Manager, Contract Logistics.

Key Responsibilities

• Build the fact base for quality: with the quality team, establish one source of truth and the KPIs and Power BI reporting that make service provider performance visible and actionable by damage type, root cause, unit, region and provider.
• Benchmark best against worst across the network, capture what top performers do differently, and turn the gaps into concrete improvement plans for the units that lag.
• Set clear, practical standards: simplify the quality chapter of the SOPs and define handling for exceptions, returns and deviations, with clear responsibilities and escalation paths, including a checklist that gets new and temporary units running right from day one.
• Build competence and adoption across business teams and operations, including training material for and with service providers.
• Secure the right handling materials at the right cost and quality, and identify the best sourcing model through IKEA Components.
• Take on other assigned projects across the category.
• Represent IKEA as a trusted business partner towards service providers, always acting with a value- and fact-based approach.

About You

We are looking for someone who combines expertise, curiosity and a strong business mindset:

• Solid knowledge of logistics operations, including warehousing and distribution, with a clear understanding of handling processes and where damage originates.
• Deep understanding of quality management in an outsourced environment, measuring performance fact based and driving improvement through partners rather than direct control.
• Hands on with data and reporting: able to turn operational data into clear priorities, build Power BI reporting rather than only consume it, and challenge data quality when the numbers do not hold.
• Proven ability to design and implement KPIs, working methods and standard operating procedures that people actually use.
• Experience developing training material and building competence across different audiences and cultures.
• Strong presentation and communication skills and ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders without formal authority.
• Self-driven, curious and highly organised: manages multiple priorities, drives change, and keeps a strong eye for detail.
• University degree in relevant field (logistics, engineering, economics or business), fluent in English, and at least 7 years of relevant experience including influence beyond your own unit.
• Experience with IKEA Supply Chain and leading cross functional, cross cultural initiatives is a plus.
