At IKEA Marketing & Communication AB, we are responsible for developing global communication for IKEA businesses and the IKEA products and we are as passionate about communication as we are about events and sharing new experiences together. 

Now we’re looking for an Event Manager to join our IMC studios in Älmhult, Sweden.  

Please note that this is a temporary position for one (1) year. 

As Event Manager, you’ll be a part of developing global events and exhibitions that strengthen the IKEA Brand and inspire more people to create a better everyday life at home. In this role, you’ll manage a fixed group of event leaders and lead larger teams that differ over time. It’s your responsibility to ensure that the teams have the right conditions to deliver excellent experiences and IKEA communication that’s on strategy, on time, and always at a low cost. You will be part of IMC Studios and actively contribute to lead the complete project portfolio emphasizing and always striving to find better ways. 

As a leader, you welcome diverse teams, ideas and experiences and foster a collaborative creative environment. You need to be result oriented and have a brave can-do-attitude, striving for constant development in a dynamic and ever-changing environment. 

In the role you will lead, inspire, and challenge teams and the wider organization to explore new ways to come together and meet our goals to reach consumers in an omnichannel environment. You will help set prerequisites for projects to deliver high creative quality in time and at a low cost. Lead the event and exhibition competence development in the organization and contribute to present ideas that strengthen the IKEA identity and makes our love for life at home come through in many different meeting points.  

You will also navigate in the digital possibilities, always on the outlook for the solution that fits the purpose and the frames that fit the best experience. Actively support the development of the IKEA Marketing & Communication business plan and action plans. Set and follow up goals that support growth and profitability. 

You may identify and lead improvements to ways of working. Ensure continuous development and close connection between IKEA Growth plan content in the defined events with content in the Marketing & Communication delivery plan. Continuously expand our external network of freelancers and sub-suppliers, including negotiations of contracts in line with IMC principles and collaboration across IMC. Work closely together with other IKEA Marketing & Communication functions, and other stakeholders within and outside IKEA. 

To be successful in this role, you need: 

• At least 5 years of relevant experience, related to marketing & communication, events, exhibitions and strong strategic communications skills. 

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing and communication or equivalent work experience. 

• Experience leading and being responsible for large-scale projects, preferably for international clients. 

• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead and facilitate creative processes. 

• Manage stakeholders and dependencies within the assignment and across IKEA network. Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships, ensuring that the needs are fulfilled throughout the project. 

• A deep passion, curiosity and understanding for people’s everyday life at home, home furnishing and retailing; proven customer-focus mindset.
