This includes a responsibility for selected components and raw-material, which means develop, purchase and supply to IKEA suppliers. Our business is global and based in locations all over the world.  

Category Wood has around 200 suppliers delivering the raw wood and variety of different wooden materials for furniture production such as Veneer, Wood Components, Planks, Glue Board and Plywood.

Job description

In accordance with business plan, the Business Developer develops and implements – together with team members - common action plans with suppliers, delivering excellent performance in running operations and building professional long-term business development. The Business Developer loves continuously identifying cost out opportunities and to secure the implementation of it. Together with the team the Business Developer works with optimizing the sourcing set-up, making it more and more optimal.

Your tasks will include:

  • Be overall business responsible for supplier performance (Price Development, Quality, Logistic, Sustainability) and the business relationship
  • Close cooperation with IKEA Industry Units mainly within Manufacturing Area Wood Panel and Components
  • Secure compliance to IKEA agreed working methods.
  • Responsible to lower total cost at suppliers through optimizing the value chain, identifying opportunities in the cost breakdown, working with the Supplier development process and creating strong action plans together with the suppliers.

  • Min 3 years’ experience in purchasing
  • Knowledge of supply chain and value chain analysis, supplier development process and cost breakdown analysis
  • Ability and drive to take own initiatives to identify and implement cost out opportunities
  • Good analytical skills / excel proficiency
  • Good finance knowledge
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • High focus on stakeholder management
  • Experience and capability to create trust and effective relations
  • Ability to engage and motivate people
  • Proven ability to work in a multi-project setting which consists of timeline driven tasks, changing priorities and details
  • Ability to multi-task and high sense of urgency to timelines and unique needs of each project/country
  • Strong communication skills and fluent in English and Polish
  • Knowledge about Wood industry will be an advantage

More Information

This position is located in Warsaw, Goleniów or Lubawa.

For the role, we estimate up to 30% travel time.
