Production Engineer-Food Plant Base

Ikea plant-based food products include Grains & Bakery, Beverage, Vegetable & Fruit, Condiments, Confectionary and Snacks, covering both Food Service and Consumer Packaged Goods.

Food Safety, Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Evaluate supplier’s quality and food safety management systems, production and product development capability
• Responsible for implementation of production specifications and requirements at Suppliers, secure quality compliance 
• Secure 100% GFSI. Participate Food Safety and Quality Assessment plan & preparation, field assessment and follow up gap closure actions. 
• Take lead to assess and mitigate food safety, quality and production risks 
• Manage quality deviations – investigate causing party, root cause analysis incl containment, secure corrective and preventive actions.

Supplier Development 

• Continuously drive supplier quality performance development, production improvement and product improvement initiatives. Share best practices and good examples.
• Collaborate with suppliers to create and implement yearly action plans

Product Development - News, Moves, Improves 

• Facilitate and support product development with production knowledge and supplier input
• Manage market specific range news, move and improves implementation

• Manage information flow between IKEA and Suppliers (e.g. labels follow up, consumption, technical data, benchmarks)

• Solid Experience in quality & food safety, engineering and manufacturing in food industry.
• Good at evaluating suppliers’ quality & food safety, manufacturing capability to produce diversified IKEA products.
• Good knowledge of quality assurance set up including cost calculation and materials.
• Strong in project management. Process oriented with good analytical skills and structured approach.
• Result oriented, high energy and self-driven way of working to deliver better products for the many people by working together with suppliers and various stakeholders in IKEA.
• Sense of urgency and never compromise attitude towards quality & food safety.
• Able to make business decisions and solve complexed problems with holistic view. Continuously learn from good examples and mistakes.
• Interest and drive to build trust and partnership with various stakeholders to reach common goals.
• Good communication skills in English and Mandarin (both written and verbal)

This position will be based in Shanghai. Business travel is one part of the assignment since we work closely with our suppliers. Please note that the selection process will take place continuously, which means that we may close the application process earlier than stated if we find the right candidates.
