Job description

Your assignment

  • Identify and capitalize on business opportunities in the local market in order to grow sales and customer satisfaction. Always adhere to IKEA’s commitment to creating a sustainable life at home and being a good neighbour.
  • Participate in the development of the store business plan. Execute the implementation of the plan and lead the follow-up and analysis of results. 
  • Understand the local market demographics, the economy, competitors, consumers’ living situations and shopping behaviours. Use this knowledge to adapt costs and resources in order to meet financial goals, while growing longterm profitability.
  • Set key performance indicators (KPIs) for PUP team and constantly monitor the performance against IKEA objectives and agreed goals. 
  • Control costs by working in a lean, simple and cost-conscious way
  • Communicate a consistent message to consumers and sell the benefits and uniqueness of the IKEA idea, attracting consumers to PUP stores, and supporting the conversion of visitors into loyal, long-term IKEA customers.
  • Promote IKEA’s social and environmental commitment in the local market and work with team and PUP’s customers to understand how, together, we can contribute to sustainability.
  • Comply with IKEA rules and guidelines, safety and security requirement as well as local and national legislative obligations.
  • Act as IKEA spokesperson to the local market to ensure that PUP communication reflects the IKEA vision and values.
  • Utilize an effective recruitment, competence development and job knowledge to select well-informed, commercially focused co-workers who can support the retail processes. 
  • Create and monitor individual personal development plans of your PUP team to reflect their business and personal development needs.
  • Delegate responsibility to PUP team members to help them grow and develop, also create an environment of trust by encouraging open, constructive, honest, two-way feedback.
  • IKEA Phuket (previously Pick-Up-Point) is a satellite store from IKEA Bangna, Bangkok. As such your direct line manager will be the IKEA Bangna store manager. The mother store will also provide support & resources in terms of HR, Com&In and BN.

Qualification

Your profile

  • You should have a retail management experience at least 3-5 yrs. Ability to quickly understand local market conditions and capitalize on opportunities is essential 
  • You have proven ability to use commercial competence to capitalize on short-term and long-term business opportunities, and have thorough understanding of profit and loss and the key performance measurements used in retail store to plan, follow up and steer the business. 
  • You have proven record of setting and implementing action plans and providing clear direction and following up goals. Able to demonstrate record of consistently meeting agreed budgets and goals, and working on plans over several years. 
  • Experience in leading and managing a team. You should be able to prioritize and organize personal work tasks and the work of others in order to make the most efficient use of time available. You have experience to confront and manage poor performance. 
  • You also have a strong leadership and ability to get the best out of all team members. Experience of adapting to different styles of working to get the best out of all team members (situational leadership) is your competence. 
  • Able to communicate confidently in English. Computer literacy is also your skill.
