Our team within IKEA

We work in INGKA People Domain subdomain People Planning where we build, refine and maintain digital products that focus on having the optimal staffing in the different business units considering the co-workers required working time. We will build new platforms and products providing the Frontend, backend and integration interface to support and improve the co-worker, manager and People planners journey within Ingka.
Our products both provide and consume data to/from other products through Rest and Event API’s. So, it is important that we do this right from the beginning and that we build a platform with a good technical foundation and architecture.
Within the People Planning subdomain – We are the Co-worker Experience area. Our responsibility is to contribute to IKEA People Planning Co-worker PP Experience. Our mission statement is to create a seamless experience for our Co-worker when they work within People planning processes.

As a Software Engineer you will be expected to:
- Work in sprints with close cooperation with Product specialist and UX.
- Be part of the iterative design process with the team
- Reach out and align with our chapters and technology groups on patterns and practices such as data mesh, security, privacy, domain architects, tooling etc.
- Follow IKEA’s engineering base lines (IKEA have ADR’s, rules and guidelines about how to handle engineering.
- Develop and test new or changed functionality, bugs.
- Secure our documentation is always up to date
- Maintenance/Support (we only have CET 8-17 support, Mon-Fri and we have an rotating schedule)
- Collaborate both within and outside team (like Code review, pair programming, share/seek good practice and learnings).
- Take/Feel responsible over your delivery’s quality
- Take on a Responsibility area within the team (In an engineering landscape there are things that we need to actively work with that might not be directly connected to a sprint backlog, ex. security, architecture, support process, data management, cloud function updates etc.)

Who you are

You have a passion for technology, you welcome change and you love to learn and to spread your knowledge. As a person you are innovative (however always consider if things can be re-used and that it will bring value to IKEA) and enjoy work with others.
Your main knowledge should be front-end, however you should be open to work on both back- end and integrations as well. You will always get support from the team.




You have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a software engineer with main experience within javascript, React framework and Typescript. You should have proven abilities in developing high quality code and applying established practices. It suits you to work cross functionally both independently and interdependently, with the support of a vast software engineering network.

To succeed in the role, we see that you have:
- Good experience in Web development.
- Good experience in modern front- end development. Experience in working with one or more reactive front-end frameworks like: React.js.
- Good experience in JavaScript and Type script.

- Good experience in using GIT.
- Experience in establishing and/or working with automated CI/CD, pipelines.
• Experience in working with node.js based backends.
- Experience of working in agile software development teams with an emphasis on self-organization
- Experience from various engineering practices including design, development, documentation and test automation using industry standard tools
- Experience being part of designing and creating the architecture of new Digital Products
- Experience in cloud app development using one or more of the popular cloud services: GCP, Azure, etc. Since we are using GCP, it would be beneficial (but not a must) if you have experience of working and configure of GCP components.
- Experience working with databases
- Understanding of event-based contra batch driven integration API’s

The position is based in Helsingborg and we expect that you are able to work in the office at least once a week, but also have the ability to come into the office more often on short notice.
