Job Description

Why we will love you
We are looking for energetic and proactive co-workers for our store for the summer and even for permanent positions. With us, you will be part of a team where every day is different and where you have the opportunity to create a better everyday life for the many – quite literally.
What does that mean in practice? It could be helping a customer find the right-sized shelf, ensuring the store is clean and inviting, or serving delicious meatballs in our restaurant. Every task is important to us.
You are a team player by nature, who takes initiative and helps colleagues across departments, whether it's advising a customer or creating orders. You believe that the best solutions are created by togetherness. You want to learn new things and know that the best way to do that is simply by doing it. That's why you dare to take responsibility and are bold, and you are not afraid of making mistakes, as you see them as opportunities to learn. For us, the most important thing is not what you already know, but your genuine desire to try and develop together with us. You will do well in our tasks as long as you have good communication skills in Finnish or English.
Did you recognize yourself? Great! Next, familiarize yourself with the available job positions and submit your application according to the instructions.
Your responsibilities
IKEA stores offer a variety of job positions in different Sales, Customer Service, and Restaurant departments, as well as in Logistics. In each department, you will perform responsible tasks when meeting our customers in various customer service situations and work to strengthen the overall sales of the store. The customer is your number one priority, and with your actions, you ensure that our customer service and customer experience are top-notch. Your goal is to create a positive shopping experience for customers in all customer situations so that they return to shop with us over again.

You actively approach and greet customers, discovering their needs by asking the right questions. You recommend and help plan home‑furnishing solutions and services that suit them perfectly.
You prepare sales areas and make sure products are always available. You take care of your department to keep it tidy and inviting for our customers at all times.

In the IKEA Food, you’ll get the chance to work in the Customer Restaurant, in the dining area and dish‑handling, or in the Bistro & Swedish Food Market. As part of IKEA Food, you help ensure our customers leave with happy tummies and big smiles — and that our products are always top‑quality and inviting. All IKEA Food roles require a valid hygiene passport.
Customer Restaurant: This is where we prepare tasty, high‑quality dishes for our customers, along with display‑case goodies and all the delights served at our summer buffet.
Customer Restaurant cashier & dish‑handling: Here you’ll work at the checkout and on the dining floor, serving customers with a cheerful attitude and making sure they always find a clean, welcoming table to enjoy their meal. The dish‑handling ensures there are always clean plates and cutlery available.
Downstairs Bistro & Swedish Food Market: Your mission here is to serve delicious hot dogs and tasty soft ice creame, perfect for a quick bite or to take away before heading home. Customer experience is close to our hearts. At the Swedish Food Market, customers can sample products and take home Swedish classics — like the iconic IKEA meatballs and lingonberry jam!
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
You’ll be working mainly at our Customer Service, Trolley Service, Checkout Services, Children’s Playroom, as a Greeter, and at the pickup point of our Market Customer Distribution Center.
At the Customer Service, you’ll help customers with things like product exchanges and returns, claims, spare‑part questions, and handling orders.
In Trolley Service, you make sure trolleys and shopping tools are right where our customers need them. You actively assist customers — including offering help with loading. The work takes place both indoors and outdoors, and success requires a good level of physical fitness, because you’ll definitely stack up those steps.
As a Cashier, you ensure a smooth payment process and a positive shopping experience at the checkouts. It’s your responsibility to keep our checkout service friendly, quick, and efficient.
In the Children’s Playroom, you make sure the kids are having fun and can spend their time with us safely — giving parents a peaceful shopping experience in our store.
As a Greeter at the store entrance, you welcome customers warmly and help kick off their shopping by telling them about current offers, events, and our Family membership.
At the Market Customer Distribution Center pickup point, you’re responsible for checking and handing out customers’ orders — and making sure customers receive have a great experience. Your tasks also include handling order deviations, when they occur.
