We’re looking for someone to be an ambassador in leading a strong safety culture, inspiring others to create a safe and secure environment for our visitors, co-workers, and contractors at IKEA Sylvia Park.



You are driven to develop a proactive and comprehensive risk & compliance agenda, which secures a healthy working environment, mitigates risks and ensures that all functions identify, assess and proactively handle risks. You are motivated to create a safe and secure environment for our visitors, co-workers, and contractors, and to be an ambassador in leading a strong safety culture in the unit. You have the desire to continuously improve and challenge existing ways of working by conducting problem root cause analysis to identify and find solutions. You love working with people and build robust relationships with stakeholders and influence decisions to positively contribute to creating a safe, secure & compliant customer and co-worker experience. About this work area

As Unit Business Risk & Compliance Leader, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Promoting risk management in the market, informing, and sharing expertise to develop risk-aware decision-taking in relation to the unit goals and business plan.
• Securing the implementation and follow through of company rules and local legislation, guiding stakeholders, to ensure compliance and a healthy, safe and secure environment for customers, visitors, co-workers and external partners.
• Operating risk and compliance verifications within the set framework.
• Conducting internal investigations, analysing processes and data in collaboration with stakeholders and following company rules and standards to ensure compliance.
• Identifying, planning and facilitating the required trainings for co-workers and external partners.
• Creating a risk compliant culture by developing leadership and a conscious approach in identifying and implementing systems to detect, analyse and reduce business loss, financial impact, incidents and accidents.
• Coordinating the emergency management team for the handling of any emergency cases and performing appropriate actions to ensure process is followed and all key stakeholders are involved.
• Planning for and ensuring that emergency management trainings and ways of working are in place in accordance with the emergency management method, plans and protocols to ensure all involved know their responsibilities.

To be considered for this role, experience in the following is highly regarded:
•At least 3 years’ experience in an Occupation Health & Safety role in a retail, hospitality, or warehousing environment.
• You are committed to IKEA New Zealand in this role for 3 - 5 years.
• Robust experience in providing operational and strategic workplace health and safety advice, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and legislation.
• Knowledge in relevant New Zealand legislations & regulations, and proven experience ensuring compliance.
• Knowledge of relevant IKEA health, safety and security steering documents and working methods will be highly regarded.
• Good knowledge of the corporate identity, core values & vision of IKEA.
• Excellent problem solving, analytical and communication skills, with the proven ability to manage complex and competing priorities.
• Proven experience in leading complex and business critical topics through people with excellent stakeholder management abilities.
• Cultural competency and the ability to integrate equality, diversity, and inclusion practices within a workplace.

What you need to know
•This role is permanent, full-time.
•The salary range for this position is NZ$90,000 – $120,000 annual gross New Zealand Dollars.
•The work location for this role is IKEA Sylvia Park & external warehouse.
•As our store operates 7 days per week, you must have the availability to work a rotating roster with a mix of day and evening shifts. You also have the availability to work alternating weekend shifts (both Saturday and Sunday).
