Who you are

Please note that this is a non-paid academic internship for students looking to complete the Program requirements.
The internship will commence in January or February with a minimum of 12 weeks.

Join IKEA as a Customer Experience Intern!
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Customer Experience department.
In the eighties and nineties, IKEA was well known and loved by children for its famous ball pit. Those children are now parents themselves and bring their children to our Smaland. The time has come to re-evaluate our playful attractiveness. How relevant are we still concerning family friendly facilities and activities? Is our communication inspiring and still with a twinkle in the eye? Can we reinvent some aspects of our family friendly strategy to keep exceeding expectations and to stay surprising? How can we secure that the children of today will also remember the warm feeling and become the next loyal customer generation?
You will work on a project focused on enhancing family friendliness in our 8 Belgian stores. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in customer experience management and contribute to meaningful improvements in our stores, more specific to the different angles of family friendliness (communication, facilities, activities etc).

Who you are:
- you are passionate about customers and customer experience and eager to contribute to a family friendliness that exceeds our customers’ expectations.
- you are a research and development enthusiast; you are keen on researching and cataloging both current and innovative family friendly solutions.
- you are a collaborative team player. You are ready to join forces with dynamic colleagues of different departments. You like connecting to people proactively to build the right relationships and gather the needed information.
- you are able to work independently, take initiative, dare to ask questions and make mistakes. We love enthusiasm and positive energy; only the one who sleeps makes no mistakes
- you know how to analyze data to drive decisions and improvements in our family friendly strategy.
- you are a creative thinker, you like to brainstorm and thinking ‘out of the box’ is within your comfort zone. You are dedicated to reimagining the journey of parents and their children (of different age groups) to IKEA stores, focusing on a convenient and surprising shopping experience.
- your values are reflected in the values of IKEA.
- you speak Dutch or French and English
- you want to develop yourself and the IKEA business during an internship of minimum 12 weeks. A minimum of 2 days in the office in Zaventem will be required. You are willing and able to visit our eight stores for face-to-face meetings and information gathering (minimum 1 visit per store during the internship). All our stores are also reachable by public transport.

What you'll be doing day to day

• Analyzing figures & trends related to our visitor segment ‘families with children’:
o In cooperation with our Customer Data experts, you analyze the visit frequency of families with children, their feedback and hindrances.
• Mapping the current situation in our stores:
o Overview of the existing communication, facilities and activities in our 8 stores.
o Effectiveness of the current offer.
o Gathering good examples and identifying common weaknesses
• Analyzing Potential Solutions:
o Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation, as well for communication, facilities as activities.
• Market Analysis:
o Conduct a comprehensive market analysis to understand what our competitors are offering, and search for inspiration also in other domains.
o Identify trends and inspiring examples.
• Development and implementation of needed upgrades of existing solutions.
• Development and testing of new solutions to attract more families with children and increase the loyalty of existing families.
• Conclude the project with a detailed report and presentation on findings and recommendations.
