  • Why we will love you

Do you enjoy solving real problems in a global setting? Our Central Connectivity team plays a crucial role in our digital transformation, ensuring smooth communication across systems and supporting our vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people. We keep every IKEA store, warehouse, and office connected so our co-workers can focus on what matters.

As a Systems Engineer - Network Security, you will help build automated and reliable network services for our locations worldwide. You will work with a small team of engineers to secure efficient solutions that support our daily operations. If you bring experience or a strong interest in network security and automation, and thrive in a value‑driven environment, this role will suit you well.

What you'll be doing day to day

    • Support the implementation and operation of secure network solutions across data center and site environments, contributing to reliable connectivity and strong security controls.
    • Assist in deploying and maintaining data center security capabilities, including microsegmentation and policy enforcement aligned with Zero Trust principles.
    • Contribute to initiatives that strengthen the organization’s network and security posture, helping ensure services meet operational and compliance requirements.
    • Work closely with infrastructure, platform, and application teams to support secure connectivity between data centers, cloud environments, and enterprise locations.
    • Participate in the rollout and ongoing improvement of segmentation strategies and identity-aware access controls that protect applications and workloads.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve network and security issues in data center environments, helping maintain stability, performance, and service availability.
    • Follow established architecture standards and best practices while contributing feedback and practical improvements from day-to-day operations.
    • Use tools such as Python and Ansible/AWX where appropriate, to assist with automation and improve consistency in network and security operations.

We know that great engineers come from different backgrounds and experiences. If some of the areas below match your skills and interests, we’d love to hear from you.

    • Experience working with enterprise network or security platforms in data centers or large-scale infrastructure environments.
    • An interest in modern security concepts such as microsegmentation, Zero Trust architectures, network policy enforcement, and secure access controls.
    • Experience supporting security platforms, management systems, or related infrastructure in production environments.
    • Familiarity with automation tools such as Python or Ansible, or a willingness to learn and use them to improve operational efficiency.
    • Experience using Git or other version-control systems in collaborative engineering environments.
    • Curiosity and strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and work toward practical solutions.
    • Ability to collaborate with colleagues across teams, functions, and locations, with clear and open communication.
    • A team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to share knowledge and support others.
    • A proactive attitude aligned with values such as simplicity, togetherness, and continuous improvement.

    Together as a team

The Central Connectivity team is a small but growing group of nine engineers. In this role, you will collaborate across IKEA’s global infrastructure to design, build, and automate network services for stores, warehouses, and offices worldwide. You will play a key role in transforming how connectivity is delivered, making it efficient, scalable, and automated.

You will work closely with colleagues across Central Connectivity and other teams, sharing expertise, tackling challenges, and delivering solutions that have a real impact. Togetherness is central at IKEA - by combining our skills and passion, we create meaningful results for our global network.
