Job description
We are strengthening simulation-driven product development at IKEA of Sweden and are looking for an FEA Engineer to join the Comfort Platform team within Range Area Seating.
The purpose of the role is to enable faster development of innovative and robust products by optimizing designs, predicting product performance and validating behaviour while reducing reliance on physical prototypes.
- Perform implicit and explicit non-linear finite element analyses to predict product and solution behaviour, including large-displacement problems.
- Apply CAE methods such as topology, topography, shape and parameter optimization to improve product and solution designs.
- Develop and validate material models, simulation parameters, load cases, boundary conditions and safety factors to ensure reliable and fact-based results.
- Establish and continuously improve methods and routines for FEA simulations, and verify simulation results together with test engineers through physical product and solution testing.
- Collaborate with external industry and university partners within the area of expertise and contribute actively to the IKEA simulation network.
Qualification
To be successful in this role, we would like to see that you have:
- At least five years of experience working with structural linear and non-linear analysis methods, including verification testing.
- Strong experience in material modelling and in both implicit and explicit analysis for complex and large-displacement problems.
- Good knowledge of relevant simulation and pre-processing tools; at IKEA we currently use HyperMesh and LS-DYNA.
- Experience developing clear technical reports, engineering guidelines and structured working methods, together with knowledge of statistical methods and design of experiments.
- A university degree in engineering or equivalent, with the ability to work closely with development teams and translate simulation insights into practical design improvements.
